An hour ago after asking the other party if the zt shipped, he tells me that the 'ZT is all packed up but will not go out until tomorrow or Thursday". No explanation. I ask why it happened, still not explanation. I ask for a phone # to discuss.. no response.

Here is the kicker.... He was on all day and actually sold a CQC-7 ......when I mention this, he says that it is not my knife he sold...he "has other emersons"

I am really uncomfortable, especially with the lack of communication ... What say you?

I have a wiseman sodbuster that I have beat on and abused for a while. It developed some blade play a few months ago, and it turned into some wiggle that I was not ok with.
I contacted Gene about it, and he responded within the same day and told me to send it to him. I mailed the knife along with check to cover return shipping. He did not ask for the check, I included it since I have been rough with the knife and felt partly responsible for the wiggling blade.
I got an email from Mr. Wiseman about a week later saying the knife was done and giving me the tracking number for the package.
When I opened the package, I found a letter from Gene saying what he did to fix the knife. Also, the check that I sent him was in the box! He said that it was his problem, no money needed.

Now that is how you do business:)

I live on Guam - an unincorporated territory of the U.S. Almost all residents are U.S. citizens. They were drafted during the Vietnam War which is when I first visited the place 45 years ago. There's a National Guard here. Just read 11 local KIA in Afghanistan alone. USPS is all over the place. Shipping to and from the U.S. costs the same as between any state. For some odd reason, some Bladeforum members won't sell knives to me, regardless of the fact that I've been a member for 12 years and have done hundreds of satisfactory transactions over the years. "Lower 48". "Conus Only". As though sending stuff to Hawaii, Alaska is fraught with hidden danger. Even when you tell them you'll absolve them of responsibility once they mail it, they'll still decline. It's still pretty much a free country so no one should be forced out of their comfort zone. Just thought I'd mention it again. But jeez they don't mind buying my knives.

First of all my intentions are not to place blame or insult anyone, I simply want to state an opinion.

(This thread will mainly focus on benchmade, spyderco, and Kershaw/zero tolorance)

In the past months there have been a steady stream of warranty threads (first in the Kershaw sub forum and more recently in the Spyderco sub forum) and for the most part they have been negative, I'm irritated by the fact that people choose to post about negative experiences and keep the positive to themselves (that being said there're some positive threads posted:))

In my opinion 99 percent of the time the problems people have are due to communication or poor knowledge of the warranty.

In the case of communication. It's easy to miss an email (especially when you get the volume a warranty department might) before you start a thread saying your disappointed with a company not answering your email, email a second time. Or better yet give the warranty department a call (their number should be clearly listed on there website)

About the warranty, read it thoroughly, if it's not covered it's not covered. For the most part the only thing warranties won't cover is you breaking your knife (this is a generalization) there are exceptions like clip replacements and screws (re-blading from Kershaw and benchmade) and normal wear.

In person I've had the pleasure of meeting people from kershaw and benchmades warranty departments specifically Thomas Welk and Nolan Kidwell. Both good people. And over email spyderco's Charlynn. Responses to my emails have been extremely prompt and always friendly.

Also I wanted to add that I realize Benchmade doesn't get many negative threads, but I thought they should be mentioned.

My bottom line,
People need to realize that posting a negative thread has a sizable affect on company's reputation, if you saw 5 negative threads about a company's warranty and only 2 positive what would you think?

Think before you post, and if possible give people the benefit of the Doubt, the people in warranty departments get paid to help, give them a chance. they won't bite:)

Lastly if you intend to post in this thread please keep it civil and respect others opinions.

Cheers!

-Kirby

P.S
I would like to point out the fact that I realize I'm biased, I know people within these company's (not spyderco) and enjoy each, which is well represented by my signature and the associations I've chosen to make and is also why I've chosen to start this thread.

This thread is a compilation of a deal and complaints by Over Kill on being banned for not following through. We will lift the ban and give him a chance to explain what he is going to do to correct the problem. Until this is completed to everyone's satisfaction, he may post only in this thread.

This an unusual procedure. As Exchange forum moderator, rycen asked the supermoderators to work with him to allow it. We all hope everyone keeps the discussion on topic and professional.

Hi I usually go by the name of Over Kill here on the forums. Rycen banned my account about an hour ago because I could not issue drift draft a refund until tomorrow.

A few of you know me on the forums, I have held giveaways with over $100 in knives and I have proxied for members at shows. I have over 30 great feedback's and no negative.

About two months ago my son was diagnosed with cancer. I have been selling off my entire knife collection to fund his medical treatment and give him a shot to make it through this.

Drift draft purchased a knife from me about 15 days ago. The day he purchased it I realized the knife was at my mothers house ( she was going through a move). I went there that day to procure the knife but it was already packed up. I notified drift draft of the situation and asked him if I could refund his money until I found the knife so that he wouldn't have money out until I found it. He said based on my feedback that he trusted me and was a patient person.

I guess his patience ran out and he got a mod (Rycen) involved and demanded a refund. I told him a few days ago that my brother found the blade and I was waiting for a reply to see if he wanted the knife instead of the refund. I did not hear back from him.

Instead I heard from Rycen who threatens to ban me if the refund is not given today. I had a sale thread going so I could get money in my paypal account for the refund and to pay for some more of my sons med bills. I explained all of this to both of them letting them know that I would be able to do the refund tomorrow that the banks are already closed so I wont be able to get the money in their till the morning.

In response a Paypal dispute was opened against me and Rycen banned my account.

Now I have no way to sell the rest of the few remaining knives in my collection to get my son through this. I am very worried about him now that I cant make this extra money selling the rest of my collection

Did I deserve to be banned and treated like a thief by this mod?

Sorry about all of the grammar errors I am shaking with worry and I dont know how I am going to tell my son that I can no longer afford his treatment.
