Because these materials are natural. and can have variables in size and thickness. All the measurements are taken at the smallest length and width. When there is a notable difference I will put both measurements. Thickness is harder to measure accurately, Because its a natural material and has curves etc. So I measured the center of both scales on both ends and used the smallest number. Most of these are a bit thicker throughout then the listing.

Mammoth ivory can and will have cracks and textures. etc. this is normal and often desirable. These are bark. the outside portion of the tusk. And show color. Ranging from Blacks to blues and greens and browns to tan and cream colored. I have cut and flat sanded them and have done any necessary repairs to the material to make it usable. I am happy to answer any questions about working with this materiel.

Terms of sale... I will be happy to accept any return within 5 days.. IF, Once you receive the materials you feel you cant use it, or it is not what you expected from viewing the photos. etc. In the event this happens. I will gladly refund your moneys less return shipping. The shipping costs will be the customers responsibility.

It's really best suited for a drill press or manual mill (with a quill). I've used it six or seven times, but ended up getting a standard tension/compression tapping head. It's much quicker to write code for.

Anyway, if you want it, I'm looking for $175. Paid $210 originally. Comes with all necessities (original wrenches, 1/8" collet, 1/4" collet, brake rod). The arbor (JT6) is not included. I can include the arbor I have in it currently (3/4" straight shank) for an extra $2020130521_152714.jpg

For finishing, it will have the small brass wires that can stick out and will need buffed off. I find polishing with a terry cloth rag does a good job of grabbing and breaking off the fibers and leaves a nice finish. It takes a very good polish.

The other cool aspect of this material is high heat resistance. It is rated up to 600 degress F, more than twice that of Canvas micarta!

I have been working with the manufacturer, and have a small qty available to ship right now. I will be selling it in 10"x10" squares, and currently have 1/8",3/16",1/4", and 3/8". Here are the prices, and shipping will be in a USPS med flat rate box at $13. I can fit quite a few sheets in one box.

Also I am checking interest in some 1" blocks of this for hidden tang knive. If there is enough interest, I will get some to put up for sale.

The material comes flat/smooth sanded(about 120grit finish), not glossy like Micarta comes. The nice thing about that, is that it is ready for glue up with little or no prep to the back.

Now here's the deal with musk ox horn, these blocks are pretty straight when they leave here. If they are curved after you receive them or after they cure for two months, you can straighten them by putting them in your oven at 350 degrees for about ten minutes, until they will become flexible. Press them between two pieces of flat wood until they cool, then they will stay straight. If you leave them in the oven to long, you will burn them up. Some of these have stains on them but that's only on the outside.
