From what little I was able to gather on the web (no You Tube vids yet), no reviews, and a short blurb from the Knife show, it looks like something I'd like to add to my collection. They call it a flat grind, but maybe I'm wrong on the definition, but it looks like a sabre ground blade. Anyway, share your experience and pictures if you have 'em.

Well, initially I was not interested in the TDI Law Enforcement blade but, after looking at the knife a little closer I am convinced this knife is the one I need. I saw this video on YT and thought I'd post it here for your edification. It features a class on the TDI knife by the creator John Benner. It's very interesting seeing the results.

So, there was this thread, and people jump in supporting KaBar, and some didn't.

Then the thread was locked.

KaBar decided that EVERYONE in the thread, from the OP, to the supportive to the nay sayers... if you said something...

you got a knife, positive or negative.

now how's that for community oriented involvement!

course, it's nice and thoughtful of those who did get that knife to say "thank you KaBar"...

so, "thank you KaBar" :D

and since it was convenient, got some other swag (much like Guyon, and likely Moose)...

the 1117 is mine :>

but some of those BK14 seconds, swap points? bribes? maybe some local action? BF/Becker Aligned GeoCache drop? who knows!

and yar, will be beating up a Zomstro for sure. we'll see how that baby chops!

thanks!

As I shopped around I saw and fell in love with the full sized, partially serrated Ka-Bar tanto. I made my purchase, I think around $60, and was deployed with my unit for 12 months in Hell... er Baghdad. In that time I used my Ka-Bar for any and everything I could think of. After I got out of the Army, I put the ol' girl away. She was in pretty rough condition (don't get in to a knife throwing match with an Iraqi soldier). So, after deliberating and looking at different finishes, I decided on giving her a forced patina.

Is this a real "rare" variation of the Kabar MK2 stampings or is it a fake?

First, an overall shot :)

The pommel is thick, peened on, but about 1/8" proud above the pommel, no pins.
First, an overall shot :)

And now the "rare" or "suspicious" part, the stampings on the guard::

The overall age "appears" potentially correct, but that can be artificially induced. The proud tang does not seem consistent with Kabar standards, but I could understand things slipping by during a wartime rush. Holding it up side-by-side with my other "real" thick pommel peened tang MK2, only the stampings and the proud tang appear different. I paid less than what I've paid for PVN Kabar and Camillus MK2s, so I'm not worried about the price, just which box should I put it in? The FOR REAL DISPLAY case or the "USER BOX"?

Meanwhile can somebody tell me how and why this was classified as a machete? When you hear "machete" it conjures images of the 1/8" thin floppy bladed $10 machetes you can get at Wal-Mart or the local hardware store. This thing instead is thick, tough, and built similarly to the BK9.
