Just received my 1311. I have a Basic 11 which weighs about 17oz. My scale broke recently. Does anyone have a weight on the 1311??

Want to see how much extra those 2 inches are. other than that the blade's width and handles are roughly the same size. The 1311 doesnt have a choil though which makes it soley a chopper/machete in my book. The B11 is light enough and with the choil I can do small tasks with. Lovin the 1311 also though!!

Send that 1311 to me and I will be happy to weigh it ... and use it and chop with it and take pics of it and eventually return it.

    1311 is 18.6 oz
    B11 is 17.4 oz

    The 1311 is a BEAST.

I sold my B11. I'd love to know how the 1311 fares. Wouldn't mind having a good replacement. Think you can take it out for a chopping session this weekend and sort of review it?

Love the B11. Light and chops like a SOB. Has the benefit of INFI for easy maintenance in the field. Doesn't chip. Easy to get sharp.

I think Ill keep both my b11 and my 1311. both can be better for different uses

+'s/-'s of both in my opinion:

    +'s
B11 is def thicker. (plus on strength)
B11 is Infi, not that SR-101 is a slouch
B11 has a choil and makes it an all around knife not just a chopper

    1311 is longer,
    but lighter per inch
1311 is prob(not tried it yet) a better chopper than the B11 judging from its extra size but other generally similar attributes.
    1311 is a beast
will make a great machete as well

    '-s

1311 is a little long for smaller camp duties with no choke up capabilities, therefore a secondary knife is needed. this would add to carry weight.
1311 will have a bigger, heavier sheath because kidex/leather thickness doesnt vary

B11 has no minuses as far as im concerned
just prob will get edged out by 1311 as a chopper

these knives are very close and both great knives

    I have a B11, and I still want a 1311.

The lack of choil is something I want.

Both kydex and leather come in a range of thicknesses. You can get paper thin leather (pointless in a sheath) or 1/4" thick full grain. I can go to knifekits and get .060, .080, .093 or .125" thicknesses. all with different weights.

Dan posted over in the Yard that the 1311 will be coming down in the near future, so if you're on the fence, it may be time to jump!

All I know is my 1311z can't get here fast enough... they were ready for shipment on Monday and I prepaid. Maybe tomorrow will bring the MOAD or Fairy Dog Mother so I can finally compare my B11 in a chopoff.

Freedom is expensive, but you get what you pay for and a life worth living is worth fighting for to the end.

yeah that came out wrong. No i just meant if you use the same thickness sheath for both knives, the 1311 weight difference will be even more (all things being equal seath wise). it wont be much but of a difference but more than 1.2 ounce difference...just making the point that the overall weight of the 1311 sheath will be more than the weight of the b11 sheath, ( I guess unless you went with a thicker sheath for the b11 but why would you?)

i am too lazy to get my camera, but if you line up the usable blade portions, the difference between the B11 and the 1311 is even longer. the choil on the B11 is prob about an inch and the 1311 blade starts right after the handle so there is considerably more usable blade (not just 2 inches)

While I agree that that the thicker knife will be stronger in the strict sense, it is unlikely to matter in any practical way to the user. it is hard to imagine that anyone could break, or even bend, the 1311.

    I want one.
