I'm mostly known on here for my projects and reviews of high performance custom knives but I do love all knives and although I rarely buy production knives these days I do have some out of production factory knives that I really like

The Cold Steel San Mai TALWAR is one such knife

This one rides in a fantastic Lifter style leather sheath from our own Gary Graley

The reasons I like this knife so much are mentioned in the video below

Please post up your blasts from the pasts .... your out of prouduction factory knives

Even better make a video clip saying why

We need more knife videos so have at it

This is one of my favorites too as I still have mine. IMO I would put this in the custom / production category if there is such a thing. A truly excellent folder and video presentation!

Nice video Joe and thanks for the mention on the sheath too. I agree that is one heck of a solid knife, it's been quite a few years now since I've seen that one, I recall that the way the steel ball on the end worked quite well for retention, at first I was concerned that I'd even be able to build one for that as not all knives are suited for my style of sheaths.

Again, thanks for the trip down memory lane

Cold Steel production model also has a solid lockup and the AUS-8 blade steel is razor sharp. I stripped the pocket clip on this one to match the blade and lightly sanded the handles so it slides in and out of the pocket better. The G-10 was a little too grippy.

The Western #48a, but more specifically the f48a black beauty.
The imperial h6 Bowie style belt knife
    The imperial jackmaster barlow
These first 3 are only out of production because the companies no longer exist, but these next 2 are probably more of what you're looking for as they're simply discontinued models.
The leatherman fuse big brother the blast are probably the best models leatherman ever made.
And last but not least would be the Victorinox pocket pal, it's such a great Hugh value little pen knife that they never should've stopped making and I'm glad mine was on the hardware store rack for 5 yrs or It wouldn't be in my pocket right now.

    Good memories.

Not going to lie, I spent a lot of time over the years looking at their knives in magazines, etc.

My first Bowie was a Trailmaster in San Mai.

I still have a few recon 1's (ultra lock and triad locks).

I also have one of their Black Rhinos, and a hand full of hawks and axes and a push knife and cheap tanto.

Pat Crawford is one of the great makers in the knife world. CRKT did a production run of his famous point guard design.

also the recently discontinued Talwar series and Hold Out series, Rajah I,

as well as these from Spyderco, Spyderhawk and Lil' Matriarch

    this little folder from OMUDA,

and Wenger SAKs, SOG Blacktip MT, Gerber Gator folder, SOG PP, Kershaw A100

    Joe,

That knife looks like a very high quality build and Garys sheath is a fantastic piece of craftmanship!
My take is perhaps a little bit differrent, but also a large high quality production folder.

I have always liked the Kershaw 1050 Folding Field in AUS 8, but wanted it in a more wear-resistant steel.
When I spotted this Hattori version in lam. VG-10, my search was over and I bought it in a second.
It has bolsters & liners in nickelsilver + Ebony scales.
That was ten years ago and it's still the top of the line of my collection.

    Regards
    Mikael
