Epoxy coatings on BK&T Knives

Just bought a BK-5 Companion. Wonderful heft for a small knife. However have not put it into serious work as yet.

Have always used Zippo lighter fluid(contents on the can: petroleum distaillate - Naptha)to remove stubborn dried plant sap,resins from my Gerber stainless Bowie after some real heavy chopping at the end of the day.
As this is my first knife with the epoxy coat, would that pose any problems to the knife?

It shouldn't harm the coating at all. From what I've seen, it's pretty resistant to chemicals.

BTW, BK 5 will be doing double duty , as the ad say" food prep as well as light chopping." Would "Tuf Kote" or something similar is safe or preferably use vegetable oil?

If I have sticky residue on any of my blades, I use Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide [the lubricant]. It cleans as well as lubricates...I even use it on knives I may use for food prep. Best thing to do is get both Tuf-Glide and Tuf-Cloth. Apply a drop or two and then wipe it off with the Cloth. Works well everytime!
