    Winchester lever action 22 Magnum?

A friend of mine wants to trade me a rifle. It supposedly is one they only made for one year. Winchester lever action in 22 magnum. Anybody know anything about this rifle? I believe he said it had a laminated wood stock and is a few years old. What kind of value would it have, considering it has been shot a little and is still in excellent condition?

The first question is do you want to get into that cartridge? .22WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire) costs much more than .22LR ammo, costs more than reloading centerfire .22 cartridges, but costs less than buying centerfire ammo new. It has a little more range than .22LR but much less than any of the centerfire .22s.

If you're definitely not interested in reloading and you have a use for a rifle with a little more range than .22LR it's a good idea. Otherwise not.

Oh, don't get me wrong here. A 22 magnum is just what I am wanting, as I already have a tack driving 22 LR(Remington 541-T Heavy Barrel), and I do not reload at this time, and have no immediate plans to do so.

Plus, I live in the "Land of Idiot Gun Laws", Illinois. I pretty much have to live with rimfires and shotguns, as far as hunting guns go.

You might try searching this place if you know the model number:

I got to see the rifle in question today at lunch. It does indeed have the laminated wood stock. It definitely has been shot some, but how much, I do not know. It is still in very good condition. Is it worth a couple hundred dollars?

    Danbo,

The rifle in question wouldn't be a Winchester XTR would it? If so, then he is correct. The rifle would have only been made for a couple of years. The rifle is definitely worth a couple hundred dollars even if it is the run of the mill 9422. CONGRATS!!!

I have a Winchester Model 70 XTR chambered in 7mm Mag, and I love this gun. I would like to find a 9422 XTR in good condition to go with it.
