Shucks, I've got a plan, set up a rotational "tour of duty" on the cruise ships for our soldiers and marines that have been slugging it out with bad guys in Iraq/Afghanistan. It would give the pirates a nasty surprise, and give our boys some well earned R&R. Imagine what a Barrett fifty cal., in the hands of a trained sniper, would do to a pack of scum in a twenty foot boat
Not only did I imagine it, but doing so made my day Thanks Sarge.

i see they put it all down to a hi-tech 'sound weapon'.

guess the little guys with big smiles & the drawn kukh's waitin' on the gangway had nuthin' to do with it.....

I heard something this morning about something they did that caused the RPG's to go off course? Did anyone else hear that?

And yeah they needed a few 22-250's with 12X scopes and they could have wore them out.

This has been discussed over on the WoodenBoat forum too.

One gent said he'd calmly fire the first shot at whoever was aiming anything, the second at the motor, and the others at his leisure. Then raise the "no quarter" flag, and empty the magazine into the bilge of the boat.

There are some areas, like the Indian Ocean, famous for piracy. Mostly yachts and smaller vessels. Private owners often have weapons on board. I'd like a 50 mounted, but coming into Port would be such a hassle.

A MPG would take care of Carnival's security.

You were looking for love in all the wrong places?

Imagine what a Barrett fifty cal., in the hands of a trained sniper, would do to a pack of scum in a twenty foot boat
It would turn it into a two foot boat.

why waste time with a piddlin' lil' .50 when you can use one of these on 'em

    makes bad guys go BOOM!

    25mm m242 chain gun's make purdy fire!

of course since we are going after pirates, we should use something a bit more traditional: how about a captured german ww2 naval vessel, should be able to sneak up on 'em:
