Thomas just wondering if you are going to be at the NRA show in St Louis becasue i remember seeing kershaw on the exhibit list
jnak, I was at the NRA show last year, but opted on the OKCA show last weekend. Sorry for the late reply.
Thanks to Thomas for sending me back my Dad's Cyclone, which he rockwell tested and sharpened (it still has a little burr though), along with a new one. I had previously had trouble getting it to get sharp without burring and suspected it was a heat treat issue, but Thomas said it came out at 59.5 RC, well within spec. I really appreciate the quick turnaround and sending a new knife along with the old one, great customer service in my book.
    Mike, no problem.
Thomas I understand that the blades on the 1596SVBL were mis-marked as S30V, but were the blades actually meant to have been S30V?
No, they should have been marked 13C26.
Kershaw Model #1525 25th Anniversary Knife. Anyone have any info on this knife?
Officially each knife was indvidualy serialized 001/500, 002/500 etc. but we only actually delivered on 300 pieces or so. Tough knife to find.

"The 1597GRY's were not numbered, and it looks like there will be about 400 of those produced.
The G-10 Offset will not be serialized, and it looks as if the first articles will be out by month's end."

only 400!!??? oh how i hope my local knife shop will hold one till i have the money (early- mid june) .....i dont even know how many they ordered. ......i really hope that they wont run out.....when do they ship again? will they be out by May Thomas? Please?!

offset....breath...in through the mouth....out through the nose.....there, better?

There are only about 60 more 1597GRY's to ship, and then all 400 pieces will all be on the market. The remaining balance (60 pieces) will be delivered this month.

Thomas, I'm sure that everyone that contributes to this thread is always glad to have you here. The personal time that you contribute to the forums is a huge benefit for everyone. Whenever a poster gets you pissed off (and from what I've seen in other threads you have every right to be), just look back through this thread at all the people you've helped, and how much everyone looks forward to your replies. I don't honestly understand why some people don't get that watching out for a customer's best interests also serves the best interests of any company that wants to be around for the long haul, selling snake oil and misleading customers benefits no one in the long term. These are things that you, very clearly, get.

Words probably aren't enough to thank you, so we'll just keep buying more Kershaws!

I've personally bought a zdp leek, full size cyclone, and the new aluminum handle speed bump based on this thread/bladeforums exposure, for what it's worth. I only really considered Spyderco/Benchmade until recently. Thank you, Thomas, for contributing.

Good to have you back Thomas! I feel fortunate to consider you a friend, and I am proud to say that Kershaw is the only brand of knife I recommend or use.

Offsetlover: when you want to quote someone, just click on the "quote" button in the bottom right of the post. It makes it easier for you. And I feel the same way about the new Kershaw NRG and the HOPEFULLY coming soon Taboo! I gotta remember to Breathe, breathe. I have no patience for new toys to arrive!

Thomas, if I were to add an edge onto a bit of the back of my Leek would that void my warranty?

Let me explain: I'm going to be getting some diamond stones and learning to sharpen on my Leek since it's already had it's tip messed up and I figure I'll just send it in and get back a Sandvik (sp?) when available... since this was the case, I wanted to put an edge on a small part of the back just for the heck of it (the portion that's closed in the handle).

Posted that before, but apparently you missed it

Another question: (Did I post this before?) Should I be able to completely take my Leek apart, or should it stay together at the pivot screw? If it's supposed to stay together, could someone explain how I would replace the tension bar myself?

Through mistreatment on my part it became necessary to replace the spring on my Leek. Kershaw sent me two of them along with instructions on how to dismantle the knife, replace the spring and put it back together again. I am technically challenged and I had no problem performing the task. I very much like the idea of a company that allows one to tinker with their knife without nullifying the warranty such as Benchmade does. As a disclaimer I am a fan of the BM products.

habit, it would not void your warranty, have fun.

There was a couple of threads with picture directions on how to do this. A search should net you the instructions you desire.

I certainly will have fun... now to order the stones!

Dang, it's more difficult than I thought to find these topics! Don't know what keywords to search for.

havnt used really any s30v steel blades but the overal design is great. i would say go for it. if you arnt prepared when opening it, the speed safe system will surprise you by how fast and powerful it is. almost knocked the knife out of my hand when i first opened it. and its sleek (to me anyway) and simple. i recomend it

Well the only problem i have with speed safe knives without flippers like the BLUR is that by following the blade with your thumb as you would with a traditional one handed opening knife your thumb pushes into the blade as it opens, and that's a big mess. Someone unexperienced with them should open one with an outward flick with the thumbnail.

I have a Blur myself, and I must say it is the best knife I have owned thus far, absolutely love it. I am VERY impressed with kershaw

I know what you mean. I've got several other brands of AO's with just thumb studs. So I teach anyone using my AO knives to 'just nudge' the thumb stud, and not follow the blade.

Funny, because I've had a Storm II for quite a while now and its one of my favorite EDC knives in my line up during the summer months. I generally sway away from knives that are all stainless in the winter months because working outside I don't like noticing how cold they. In contrast I really sway from ones that rust in the summer and the 13C26 has a really great corrosion resistance.

I gave one away because the individual I showed it to really examined and appreciated the knife. After a few days I realised how much I liked that knife also, so I went out and got another. An outstanding value in its price range.

Is the Blur Speed safe with liner lock? or Frame lock? The Aluminum handle with silver G-10 fiber inlay is off the chain. It looks like the SpyKer I bought my girlfriend.
