I'm currently overseas and my 'rents, knowing I love blades and firearms and tend to spend a pretty penny on 'em, sent what sounds like a Benchmade Infidel for the holidays. They were assisted in their purchase my a knife shop clerk *cringe*. And described it as a large (by their standards) handled auto that cost more than my Busse (what they don't know woln't make 'em think I'm throwing my life away)...:jerkit Anybody got any pictures or reviews of theirs? Not exactly the sort of knife I'm normally into, but I'm sure it will grow on me.

Now just to wait this out and see if they got ripped off.

The Infidel is a great dual action OTF. If you are in the sandbox, I would leave it wrapped up. But you will love playing with it. It is a quality OTF knife. But it, like all OTF's, does not like sand inside it. You will love it when it comes and your friends will all want to play with it. I am sure you will enjoy your new knife. And you have some great friends that sent it to you.

I got my 3300 infidel last week. It's going back to Benchmade.
The blade disconnects very easy, even when there is slight movement of the knife. The blade has a lot of side play when the blade is extended. When closed it sounds like a rattle trap!
When extending the blade out from the handle it moves very slow, sometimes not able to make it all the way (disconnects).
Needless to say, I am very disappointed with my Infidel. I hope Benchmade makes it right.
Has anyone else had problems with their Infidel?

I also received a 9550AFO at the same time. This knife is perfect in every way! Very smooth, tight fitting, and finish are great!

Apparently the rattle is a 'design feature' found in all Infidels.

The other characteristics you described are not the norm however (i think)

Wow, that statement made me get my 3300 out of my safe so I could check it out. I can hear a VERY faint tap when I shake the knife but it certainly isn’t a “Rattle Trap”. As far as the other symptoms you’re describing, I have none of them. I suggest you send it back to Benchmade, they will make it right. One piece of advice though, return it through a dealer. If you send it in yourself I don’t think they will return it to you unless you are Active Duty Military or Law Enforcement.

I love my 3300 and am waiting for their next OTF auto

Yep. Even if you're in a state where it's legal for a civilian to buy an Auto, BM still won't return it directly to a civilian.

Mine arrived 2 weeks ago. Had been on order since September. No rattles, open or closed. Works great, no problems whatsoever. I can recommend the knife. Not as fast opening as a Benchmade Ultratech, but then it's a larger blade. The $450 I see all over the internet seems like a lot of money. I paid $292.00, but now I see the same sight is now charging $399.00.
Like everyone else mentioned it won't like sand.

Was at Premiumknives, in Omaha's website. But they have gone up. They Googled up with the low price. Looks like I ordered it in July.

Looks like $328.00 comes up as the best price searching the internet today. Price is from a site that gives a discount after adding the knife to the "cart".

I got one of the very first Infidels. And I'm proud to be an official Infidel.... owner that is. It's a great knife and locks up solid.
Balisongs -- because it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!

I got mine today in one day !...course I paid up for it..., but there is a slight rattle when you shake it vigorously while closed. No rattle once open at all. Vertical play nonexistent;side to side, only very minor. Feels very substantial, monolithic

Well I got my Infidel back today from Benchmade.
It's fixed, and works fine now. According to Benchmade, a screw on the inside, that was supposed to have loc-tite, did not, and it came loose.
Overall fit and finish is excellent. The blade comes out a little slower than I would like, but so far since I got the Infidel back, lock up has been good. The ejection button is a little rough on the thumb, but it is positive, no slipping.
I give this Benchmade OTF a

Five years later, I would hope his issue is resolved.
