Bladeforums would like to set up an advertising policy for Practical Tactical. The easy thing to do would be to be consistent with the rest of the site and say no advertising, but the Prac Tac membership looks at occasional announcements of seminars, articles written by members, and the like as a service, so we'd like to preserve it. However, we also don't want to be used solely as an advertising vehicle, especially by those who don't contribute here.
Here are the rules. If they don't work, we will tighten them as we go along. We'd like everyone to try to read and follow the spirit of these rules:
- If you have a new article or book published, a new seminar coming out, let us know, provided you're not doing this on a frequent basis.
- The above doesn't apply to periodicals, do not let us know every time this month's version comes out.
- Do not look for excuses to put links to your pay site or book -- or free areas of your pay site -- in your replies. If something from that site applies to the current thread, summarize it in the thread.
In general, you'll be given more leeway if you're a frequent positive contributor and/or are not publishing this material for profit. Others get less leeway.
Again, try to follow the spirit of this. If we can't get this dialed in without people trying to circumvent the rules and screaming foul when they're enforced, we'll cut the advertising off.
