Maybe you're thinking the photos are both sides of a finished piece? But they're really just in sequence. See where the strands exit, on opposite sides of each photo. So after the strands go around the outside of the lanyard hole once, through the center, around the outside again, and you have one side of the first photo. Then the strands wrap around the starting center loop, and back through the lanyard hole, and the ends are knotted together for the last photo. Hope that makes sense.

I bought my first Mora knife about three weeks ago, the Robust model, and added a simple paracord retention loop to it. I used a two-strand Matthew Walker knot, with an added turn to make the knot a bit bigger, with the cord run through the slots of the sheath's pocket clip, and it snugly fits over/around the knife handle to further secure the knife in the sheath. I'll surely do some more modifying with possibly drilling a lanyard hole in the handle, maybe a paracord turk's head knot around the sheath, and adding a firesteel, and/or a ranger band as others have done before...

I tied a 13 lead 4 bight Turk's head knot around the Mora Robust's sheath, doubled using a little over 10 feet of red paracord. A 3" x 1/4" firesteel blank was integrated into the TH knot.

The firesteel has a glow-in-the-dark 5 lead 4 bight Turk's head knot for a grip, which is epoxied to the firesteel.

I'd recommend using a ranger band or grip tape around the sheath before tying cord over it,
to help secure it in place on the smooth plastic sheath.

I'd also look for a thin stiff plastic tube to serve as a sheath for the firesteel, and knot over that for easier in and out of the rod from the TH knot. As it is, it's tight to the point that it won't accidentally fall out, but putting it back in place takes a bit of wiggle work...

I uploaded a video for tying a 'long 4 bight' Turk's head knot. I put it up to help those that couldn't quite duplicate tying one from Bud Brewer's photo tutorial, so between the two it might help someone get a better idea of tying one, to add to a walking staff, cane, knife grip, sheath, lanyard/fob, flashlight, bracelet, etc...

Awesome rope work folks! or should I say artwork? Love the different crosses, Storm. Your work is truly amazing, and I've really enjoyed the pics in this thread.

I just started fooling with knots and paracord a little in the past year or so. I'm really just starting to scratch the tip of the iceberg.

This is a "leaning post" I installed in my garden last summer, wrapped with 100' of camo rope, 3/8" I believe, in a single strand ringbolt knot. I use the post to hang my shovel, rake, hoe, cultivator and picking baskets from in the summer, and to attach different spinners, windchimes, etc. to it, so I can tell what the wind is doing from the kitchen window. ... and I really do lean against it alot when I work in the garden, so the rope makes it more comfortable & splinter free.

I skinned the 8' post with a draw knife, and spent an evening doing the wrap by myself. It was a bit of work to keep it tight & straight, especially getting started, and at the top when I was wrapping and pulling nearly the whole 100' through the knots.

Some oval shaped lanyards I've done. A great way to carry 10 ft. of survival cord. Making them around a weight can aid in breaking out of a submerged vehicle.

A few handle wraps I experimented with. They've held up well. I've also done the hoe, shovels, mower handle - they feel very comfortable.


This one helps me park the car in the exact same spot of the garage every time. It's hanging from a chain. I attached an S hook as high up as I can reach, so I can hook the whole device up above head level if the car is out and I want it outta the way. Works perfectly if you put it in the exact right spot, and seems to look better than a tennis ball taped on a string, to me.
