Finally out of bed after two days of back pain induced incapacitation. Slipped this old Camillus equal end in my pocket when I got up, and used the sheepsfoot blade shortly after that to slice open a peach.

Great knife! I've got its twin, really like the Tortoise acrylic these have. They should do some 440c patterns in this handle too. they should do a lot more 440c come to that, and with nickel liners.
Today, Fontenille-Pataud locking Laguiole, white bone. One of the very best made knives I've ever had.
Regards to all, Will

Very nice, how does the bottle opener function? I love my bokers and I am guessing the fit and finish is good?
How is the pivot holding up?
BTW, I have been experimenting with finishing the bolster without a buffer for you. If you start with 320 then move to 600 you can do a very nice satin finish very easily
I tried crocus cloth also but I don't know if it is readily available?
I love that one and its about time you opened your gift up and put an edge on it on your stones! How did it take an edge? I find my 73's take a killer sharp edge.
I also took some time to put a more established edge bevel on my 42. One savage sharp edge on it for the moment.
I also spent time peening the pivot just a hair tighter, re-contouring the ebony covers and the bolsters and going over the entire knife catching any small rise or falls. Its the first time I refinished a knife for comfort and I kind of think it turned out looking nice. It sure feels even better.
I would have done it sooner, but this one spent some time back with GEC to fix some blade play. I didn't notice the wiggle at first because my wife hid it.
The blade took an edge quicker than most, probably due to the excellent geometry. I've yet to receive a production slipjoint with a satisfactory edge out of the box that can be put to work as is. Some just need a little refining, others a serious sharpening. This one didn't take much effort.

Very good news Christian. I think sometimes the blade play shows up after working the gunk out of the action. It has happened to me more than a few times. I am talking really picky stuff though![]()
Thanks P. Here's the back side. The little red coming through is a nice touch imho that I haven't seen in other imitation tortoise shell. I've never handled real tortoise shell though so I'm don't know how accurate that part of it is.
Thanks Will. I'd love to see a 440c #33 too. Back when GEC released the 440c #61 Half Congress, they made 4 with tortoise shell. I kept my eye out for another short run but it never happened.
Great looking stag Christian!!
Thanks to the giveaway, I'm totin' this Schrade whittler.

Lousy photo, but nice knife.
Hmmm...the IMG codes are correctly inserted, but I don't see the pic. Ummm...Trust me. It's a nice knife with olive wood scales.

Looking for a good conditioned TL-29, wooden scales with no factory bail(no lock preferred either). PM or Email me if you have one for sale, thanks.
The AKC at home, and the other two at work

My Nontron today.
They claim to be older than Opinel. This one has plastic pivot washers ( some sort of lubricating plastic, like Delrin or dense PTFE. I'm afraid I don't know what exactly) to ease swollen wood handle pinching.

As much as I love stag, gec tortoise shell acrylic is my favorite. I just love the look and despite catching many of the critters I never was able to harm them.
Now ground hogs on the other hand....
@kevin: The pivot holds like a bunker and it has snap like a wild animal... Now - that #73 is a beast in spring tension and snapping. I really like it that way, though it´s harder to open (well, closing it works better now)
You say first 320 and then 600 grit sandpaper for a nice satine finishing? That sounds good... i might have both of them in my workshop... Thank you for the advice. I gonna try it out, when I have time for this work
Today... there were a C. Schlieper Muskrat and a GEC #33 Conductor with me...
Kind regards
Andi
Been missing this little fellow since going to cargo shorts, in my jeans it was a daily watch pocket rider
figgered I'd give it a ride and a little fondling for a day or two...

Case Canoe w/DT Damascus & jigged bone
The old faithful peanut returned to my pocket as I returned to work today.
And just for fun I brought along his chestnut bone brother, the mini copperhead.
