I suppose it looks good enough here,

But on further inspection the dye job is inconsistent and there are several outright white spots. Either way I don't believe it lives up to Case's label of "Dark red bone" which so attracted me to try one in the first place. This will not do!

2tsp of RIT dark brown and 2 cups of water, 15 minutes simmering, and a quick rinse and relube yields some satisfactory results.

Compared to some other generations of Case red/chestnut bone (both from the factory.) I'm quite pleased.

And no, this knife did not come from Case with two clip blades

Good job, I might just keep my watermelon bone sowbelly stockman and try the same thing.

Someday I will get a shorter version, and carry it around (this one is around 5" closed, so not really pocket friendly )
Swayback jack in my pocket today (I will have to take some pictures of it thought )

Thanks for the info Fausto. I think it is a great looking knife

This gives me some ideas regarding other Case knives, for when a desired pattern is available only with undesirable covers.

    Hmmmmm.

    But really: great work.

Monday is my day off, which usually means around the house kind of chores.

I had to get some work done on my wife's car this morning after taking her to work, and will do yard work once the morning dew burns off. I have not carried this guy for a while, so this 1978 Case 6344 HE small stockman (3.25" closed) is my companion today.

Not much has changed since I took that picture a few weeks ago, but it's always fun to take new photos. Here are two I just snapped this morning.

Kris, I can't thank you enough for continually adding in those cards for your knives. Each one is beautiful and seems to have its own charm!

Put this mini copperlock in my pocket while doing hot, sweaty yard work this afternoon.

No cutting tasks encountered, but it is helping me convince myself that this poor man's thin lockback is all I need (desperately trying to avoid the temptation of Steve A.'s outrageously beautiful cocobolo Northfield 72!).

Took my girlfriend out to lunch today with my Case barlow and burnt-stag trapper in pocket. Got home and changed into shorts and now I have my CV Case yaller trapper in my pocket and an Opinel 10 nearby just to keep me company.

Kris, I love the bone on that #72, how are you liking it so far?
That is my new grail knife as I am very pleased with GEC's 440C steel...and prefer larger single blade's...
