Any suggestions regarding this would be most appreciated!
I have been searching the www for a cost effective belt grinder mainly to use for establishing and sharpening convex edges. Unfortunately the only ones I've found are rather exorbitantly priced!
Does anyone know where I could find a smallish used belt grinder at a reasonable price or whether it would be feasible to convert a normal bench grinder with a drive wheel and contact wheel on a bracket of some sort?
Thanks

I use Johan Oosthuysen www.kmts.co.za as one source. Just off the N14. Really good kit but heavy on the pocket. Alot of thought has gone into his designs.
I find for hobby work a Ryobi vertical belt sander worked well for scandi grinds. The biggest problem I have had was getting good belts and cutting discs. I had the belts them made up to my specs by Bulldog abrasives in Wineburg (near Sandton) and they got me the very thin 115mm cutting discs. This kit costs a little more but lasts far longer than the hardware belts and discs.
Good luck! Unfortunately I am in the market for a top level grinder and school fees are around the corner.
Thanks for your answers!
