I have been unable to find any internet source for weapons laws, specifically knives, in Kenya. Is there anything in particular I should know? I will probably only be carrying my multi, a SAK, and some smal-ish folder.

    Thanks

when I did a biking trip through Kenya about 5 years agao, I had a panga (big machete) strapped to the frame, and a fixed blade sheathed on my belt. I never had any problems about either. I wouldn't walk around with a big visible knife in Nai-robbery though... Keep your toys out of sight in the city and you'll be fine.

I travel to Kenya often and normally wear a Mad Dog Wild Thing. As long as you behave civil and cover your knife in public, there is no ssue. If you do get a over enthusiastic cop, he will only ask you to remove the knife and place it in your bag. Driving in the country side you will see panga's and axes galore as working tools. The key is not to attrack attention so Johnny Rambo is not good .......... petty crime is more a problem than violent crime but some areas are bad.

Simple rule ..if you see no other whites, it makes sense to move out ASAP. Never walk alone at night and if you must, choose well lite routes.

SAK and multitools are fine. Machetes and belt knives when you have a valid reason. Wearing one in NiaRobbery is not a good idea. If the petty thieves can lift a wallet they will have that off you before a police man can ask why you are wearing an empty sheath.

Sensitivity, they have had their own election problems that involved as much enthusiasm as the the American presidential but with sharper than cutting remarks.
