    Kevin,

To create such user friendly project is no doubt a great
time consuming adventure as is the whole project of
creating a complete picture/data bank of custom knifemaker's
    name marks and logos.

But in the long run it will be an important and frequently used
reference source for generations of knifemakers, collectors, as
well as dealers, writers and researchers....

    All the best,
    David Darom (ddd)

Steve, nice mark you have there but being such a small and low
resolution file it is difficult to enlarge it properly. Would you
care to take the trouble of shooting again close up and sending
    a larger picture?

To save Harry a few seconds, here are Ken's marks turned "upright"....

    Maker's Mark

My avatar is my mark. I have a different mark for leather. If you want that also, let me know and I'll take a picture.
If you want a mark on a knife, I'll be glad to take that picture, also.

I just found a picture with both while I was setting up my gallery. And, the forum won't let me upload it twice. You may see it in my gallery - the purse knife.

Thanks guys. I got them. I've been kind of slow lately. Charlie and I are hosting the Georgia Guild meeting next weekend and have the Little Rock knife show the following one so time is a little tight right now. Just keep them coming and I will get to them.

What about Knifemakers that are deceased??? i have several knifes made by roland riddle
beautiful works of art---but, he was extremely troubled and comitted suicide several years ago...he refused to join the knifemakers guild, so his knives did not get the exposure they should have...

Sorry, I have been out of touch. I haven't been able to check the e-mail for a week or two, but will be getting back on it in the next day or so. My computer's hard drive took a hike and I am just getting it back up and working. No data was lost, I back-up.

Jim I have your picture, but could use a little contact information. If you have a bigger picture of your logo that would help too.

Buffaloknifeco, in a perfect world we would be able to get all knife makers logos and have them on file for review. Those that are living and those that are dead, well known and the unknown.....all of them. It is really those that are less well known or those that for whatever reason haven't made knives in a while, that we really want to get. Those are the ones we have trouble identifying and they made some great knives. I went through my collection taking photos of the marks and was surprised to realize that many makers were deceased. Some of you makers that are still kicking might want to buy back some of my knives because there seems to be a trend here.

Seriously, for this idea to work many collectors are going to need to take some photos of their knives, identify the makers and send them in. A few like David have done a great job and added a huge number of logos to the file, but there are plenty left to get. From what I have seen the makers don't seem to be to concerned about getting their logos in the file.

We need them all. I will try to post a list of makers that have at least one logo on file when I get the chance.

Makers, please continue to send in your marks.

Jeff Velasco has completed the CKCA maker database which will give knife enthusiast worldwide easy access to this and other information such as website links, knife styles offered and general contact information.

As we are starting to load maker information, we would like to have as many maker's marks as possible.

I will give a look at this maker database on the CKCA "Update" thread in a few days. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=621025

I just got through adding some pictures to the data base from my own collection. I really wish it had taken longer to do. We are up to about 250 marks and have a long way to go. Many come from makers that seem to change marks often. It is still important to send your marks in if you are a maker and want to be included. If you are going to post a picture of your knife, take a shot of your logo and post it too. I'll pick it off if you put a caption like "here's the logo" on the photo. If you are a collector please take a little time and photograph the maker’s marks in your collection. Don't assume that the maker has sent his marks in or that someone else has. You might have a variation that needs to be included.

Here is a Morseth mark you don't see every day.

And here is one that is by a maker that no longer makes knives but is still involved in the business. Guess Who.
