WOW, what a line-up.....again!! Coop, you really get the best knives to photograph, handle and fondle. Man, I'm really jealous.

Some portfolios shots you may not have already seen:
Like them or don't, Jeffrey Cornwell is a committed artist and an all-around good guy. One of my faves to capture.
Steve Dunn's work is ALWAYS engaging.
Pull up your chair for a closer look at Burt Foster's cleanliness.
How many makers can teach like Mastersmith JD Smith. Here's his student Kevin Klein's FIRST knife. Incredible.
Then there is the Top of the Pyramid in current Art Knives: Wolfgang Loerchner
As well as the acknowledged Master, Buster Warenski.
And a final salute to Tom Overeynder whose ad will be in the Guild Show Program this coming weekend (Sep 14-16)
Thanks for viewing.

Incredible art
I can see you love your job
Had a question about this knife. I posted over in Shoptalk
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...is-gold-finish
, but then thought you could shed some light on this. Do you know how the gold finish is achieved?
Thanks!
As you should be. But remember: It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt...
^^^ There is correct the answer. Thank you both.
Sure thing. Scott did a complete thread about this. It's worthy of it's own story. Click here.
There are aspects of it which are SO gratifying. No, you don't do good work in ANY field, if you don't care. I do, to a fault. That you point this out shows me you also know the difference. Thanks!
I haven't a clue. But I've directed Jeffrey to this post and I hope he'll enlighten us all. Thanks for asking.

The whole blade was 24K gold flashed by ACME Plating of Montrose, CO. I dragged the flat face of one side across 800G paper over a granite surface plate until the damascus steel showed. My mark held the gold. The whole blade was acid etched again to reveal the damascus pattern. The acid mutes the shine of the gold somewhat, but does not affect it otherwise. A slurry of 'no name patina prep' & camellia oil was applied all over with a fine, soft cloth to even things out. Then she was rinsed in water & finished with pure camellia oil.

Thanks a bunch! I really enjoy viewing your work. I've tried googling your name, but can't find a website. Do you have one?
Fantastic stuff. If we aren't in THE golden age of custom knifemaking, I can't imagine what would be.
No website. I am on Facebook. Thank you for your interest & comments.
Awesome work as always at catching the best of the work, thanks for all you do Mr. Coop
Hey Coop, I went through this entire thread looking for a shot you took of a Dozier DK-3 folder. It was in really awesome stag and damascus. I think it was from Blade '11 or possibly '10. I couldnt find it, I dont suppose you could throw it up for me (if you have any idea what I'm babbling about, that is...). Thanks!
I went to my own website, then went to the Gallery, and the little magnifying glass icon, which brings up a search pane, where I typed in 'Dozier'...
I only shot one Dozier folder in my career. You have a keen memory.
I'll be back with a bunch of lovelies....

One of the VERY best engravers in the field is Jon Robyn. His ability to do scroll, bulimo, and capture whimsical fantasy is simply unmatched.
This folder blew my doors off: Gypsy Voodoo Queen? Love Potion #9?
Keep looking at the details. They are everywhere.
Ron Best allows me to shoot almost every folder he produces. Then he sells them. Here's his auto folder #2.
(That's his tool to disable the spring. The release button is on the spine. Unusual, and it worked easily.)
Art Deco done well by the Minnicks
Outstanding cleanliness by Larry Newton
He engraves them as well.
(Duplicates removed. Shown on previous page.)
No whimsy here: Just stunning artistry.
