    BK8- Helicopter Egress

    BK8- Helicopter Egress
The Helicopter Egress was a sample submitted for a Government need. it was a rapidly developed prototype, designed by committee, intended to perform too many tasks in a single design. Ethan Becker was not involved in it, hence the lack of finesse, style and appeal. Cost was surely a factor in it's demise. I believe I made a total of 5 of them.

oh, we very much know about those

i believe it was our very own GUYON that supplied that PDF to that website. many of my photos are there too.

there are a couple threads here, including "becker roll call" that lists them, with many many fine photos of same. including original pre-camillus models

rats, i just remembered i have about 30 documents to scan regarding old old old Becker goodies. i really must do that this weekend. damn. got busy.

there's only 5 pages or so thus far, of high quality dense thread goodness. read them all

naturally, ethan knows all the patterns though i believe cammilus used the brand on a few items that weren't strictly speaking "his" iirc. like the bayonet.

here's the becker roll call. it was on page 1.

    Hey Guys....

The helicopter egress tool (I had no idea it was called that) was developed under the hands of that great student of the cutlery arts and crafts, Phillip Gibbs....I was told after the fact(NOT Gibbs's fault) that it was supposed to have the same size "envelope" as the classic PILOT SURVIVAL knife. After looking once again at the aesthetic abomination that blade is, I am fervently hopefull that Phil's time spent at the feet of one of the great geniuses in our field has sharpened and buffed what I hope is a nascent talent to match both his humor and a genuine genius for things mechanical......

    All Best...
