knife in Last of the Dogmen

Last week I saw on tv (more like watched parts of it), the movie Last of the Dogmen starring Tom Berringer. In it he had a cool looking knife, anyone know if it was a custom knife, the maker, or any other details about it? It was his fathers and in the end he winds up giving it to the Indian chief. Just a cool looking knife.

    "last of the dogmen" knife

This knife was called both "The Oxbow" and "Mini Bowie". It was reportly originally created by knifemaker Dick Patton. This design won "Best Camp Knife" at PKA Denver in 1999. "Idaho Knife Works" also makes this particular type of knife (see their website). Hope you can use the info.

    Last of the Dogmen Knife

If you are specifically interested in having a knife made of this type or any other, you might also contact Matt Lesniewski of "ML KNIVES". Matt is a die-hard, old style Knifesmith in New York State. He builds all my knives for me and once you place your order he's pretty quick about getting them out to you in a respectable amount of time. His prices are very reasonable as well. If you were to contact him, (check his website for info) I would imagine if you were to send him a picture of what you want, he can probably create it, or you may see another design in one of his knife galleries you might be interested in. Take it easy.

I made the Ox-Bow as a series knife for many years. As far as I know I'm the one that gave it that name. I did not find the name on the makers site. Since 1983 I've made well over 10,000 knives. Many were made in front of audiences @ ( The Shepard Of The Hills ) here in Branson Mo. I was there from 1991 thru 2000. Check out my series knives including the Ox-Bow at durrknives.com. I have 24 different series knives going but have recently reduced to just a few. That site again is durrknives.com. Best Regards Dave
