A little bit of messing around with an IR pass filter.
Awesome, next time I find one I might actually handle it...I'm used to Australian snakes (easy to tell venomous from not) and this guy was too small to see if the pupils were slits or not before grabbing it
Took this one yesterday, I mussed it up a bit running a filter through gimp image editor.

A repeat of history would mostly not be a good thing.
Here's one from a recent family trip to an aquarium in Tokyo.

thanks! slow shutter speeds and a good panning technique. That shot was with my 10-20mm lense shot at 1/80th at f16. For the shots with the wide angle I pre focused the lens manually then just pay attention to smooth panning. The first shot with the two cars in the hairpin was shot at 1/40th F25(I stupidly forgot my Neutral density filters so I was stuck maxing out the aperture)
On the shots with the long lens I left auto focus on and let the lens track the car as I panned with it. It really helps to rotate from the hips and keep the focus point locked on the same exact spot on the car the entire time. With formula cars I try to stay right with the drivers head, with normal cars I will normally try to keep the focus point right on the closest headlight.

Thank you for the enlightenment!
I guess using the right panning technique takes a lot of practice to learn.

Its been a long hiatus since I started this thread. The photos posted are truly inspiring and make me wish I had the talent that some of you do. Well, here is my little pic this week. Water beads on the toxic mayapple...

Just some recent shots from this past week while looking for caves/critters in central Texas:
Cave Orb Weaver
Cave Centipede
Some kind of night-time Ant
We also came by this church built in the early 1800's. It's an old abandoned place called St. Dominic's Church in Old D'Hanis, Texas. This photo was taken tripod mounted on bulb and I "painted" the building with the flashlight.
