Dug out an old kinda crappy survival knife I bought from a Snap On tool dealer some years ago. It is a "Rambo Style" 9" bladed hollow handle bowie type with double serrations on the back strap area. Handle is cast aluminum, blade is stainless. Named the "Survival Master by Saburo of Japan. model SKSRS ser. no. c390.
I am unable to find much on the Web, don't have any high expectations, but I would like to know a little about this blade. I think I paid $80.00 about ten years ago. Greydog.
erk. photo didnot transfer. will try again.
try tinypic, imageshack, or photobucket.
Did it look similar to the LifeKnife Commando?

Try searching for Maxam Saburo Survival Master. About 10-15 years ago I useta have one bought it from a maxam wholesaler for about 25bux was an OK knife felt solid in the hand but I never really beat on it.
Yeah, thats the one. For some reason I could'nt post a photo.
I'm going to keep the blade, but just wanted to know more about the maker. Cheapo I think, but unique looking. I think it was in response to the rambo era of knockoffs. Greydog.
yup - I have one of those Maxam Survival Master knives, too - the survival kit it came with is still in the plastic bag in the handle, too!
I picked mine up in a flea market in 84 or 85.
