I got mine! #87, perfect in every way. No rust, solid lockup, centered blade, even grinds, etc. It is way bigger than I thought it would be.

I thought the detent was stiff, but I figured out that I was just pushing on the lock on accident. Stoopid me.

    Great job Kershaw/ZT!

All this nonsense over one problem in over 30 years of knifemaking & its the end of the world.this kind of anger should be directed at Rob Dalton & Brad Duncan, not kershaw!

Thomas is "the man" at Kershaw/ZT.

And this is why EVERY 0551 should not be returned :

'bearcut'..... If you had one, or more; ordered .... now is your chance to get out of what appears to be an extremely frustrating situation for you.

I had somehow missed this knife. I will take all you have ordered.... seriously.

That you are not happy is apparent.... this is a way out for you. Don't let me down, I want one of these.
Email or PM me your payment info, let's get this done.

That applies to anyone else also.... I want at least one of these.

Waiting to hear from you 'bearcut'....

FYI..... I am not trying to be a smart @$$, I am serious.

Just wanted to go on record... my knife is #252 and the liner is corrosion-free. Blade is centered and I'm happy with the lock-up. Consider me very satisfied with my purchase.

It sounds like Thomas and KAI will make this right at no cost to any of those first 195 knife owners that choose to use their warranty. Other than a minor inconvenience and a little disappointment I don't think anyone could ask for anything more.

Got mine yesterday (#192) and overall I really like it. Thanks Kershawguy.

Fits my hand very well, quite sharp, G10 is good and grippy, big solid chunk of Ti on the lock side, but not too heavy. My liner had the "discoloration" that is causing some much concern, not sure if it was rust, though. A few minutes with various grits, up to 1500, of wet-dry sandpaper and that problem is gone. Everything else is darn near perfect: centering, lock-up, G10 is flush w/liner, blade grind, etc. even after disassembling a couple times goes right back to center. Plus, I didn't void my warranty by doing so. That I like very much.

Here I was hoping some knives would be offered to standby and stumble on to this mess.

Why no throw in my two cents. The recall seems to be the proper course and is being handled well. I feel sorry for Kershawguy and the other retailer.

I would personally NOT have informed the forum about letting go an employee whether this was the first issue of the last straw for him/her. I suspect that was intended to demonstrate QC importance at Kershaw, but I think it was a bit disrespectful to the former employee.

About the management decision to let the employee go, I'm sure Thomas did what was best for his operation. I can't possibly have all the information needed to comment on that decision. Only the management of Kershaw can know that.

Jennifer at CS is the source of this information in a conversation with me today in which I took detailed notes. See my earlier post for details.

If anyone has any doubts or questions, please call Kershaw and find out for yourself.

The source of this confusion may be Kershaw itself. I asked them to put out a statement explaining what happened and what consumers should do. They told me they had no plans to do so.
I've posted here what the problem was, and the steps we've taken to rectify the situation. With all due respect, the word coming from my posts are the final say. sorry if we were confused from your earlier call.

I've always been open on this forum, and will continue to be. If there are additional concerns that need addressing, I'll do my best to answer them.
