Camillus made knives in the US for I believe more than a century.

I know that at least some of their knives were made in Taiwan. One example was the Darrel Ralph designed CUDA EDC. At first they were made in the US, then production was moved to Taiwan. I've had examples of both. Another Ralph designed Heat, which was basically an inexpensive verison of the US made Dominator.

There's a Camillus subforum under manuracturers where you'll probably get more answers.

    Thanks...

I looked for the Camillus subforum, under Manufacturer's Forums, but did not find it...?

Would you have the web address...?

    Cool Yes and No

Camillus was/is a very respected US manufacturer. Over the years they contracted out production to many other US factories as well as a few overseas. As was posted above it varies on the year and model.

P.S. The Camillus sub-forum is actually under Collectors, which is under Manufacturer, just look.

Yes, you'll need to click on "Manufacturers" and scroll to the bottom.

If the OP is in reference to a certain FS thread about a BK-6, nothing I've said detracts from the concensus that it is a fake.

    camillus...

went out of business in 2007, so any new ones are being produced by acme.
For a long time they produced most if not all in the states
In later years their budget brand camco was outsourced. Along with others i'm sure.
Camillus was the giant of the American Cutlery industry making knives for the likes of Buck, Case, Cold Steel, etc.
My first knife was a camillus #26 2bladed hunter that was my grandads, still have it 25 years later.
The camillus forum is full of helpful people and useful info, even some former employees

Again, the Camillus subforum is the place to find answers, but I just poked around and noticed two well-regarded online dealers, Knifeworks and New Graham, both carry a line of new Camillus knives. No sign of BK-6s--obviously KaBar is the only company now authorized to make Beckers.

My best guess is that what happened to the Schrade brand has now happened to Camillus, i.e., someone bought the name and is making knives under that mark overseas.

But that's just a guess--go to the guys who would know in the Camillus subforum. All this is undoubtedly old news to them.

bought by Acme a few years ago, they are producing more modern style folders and fixed blades, not super cheap either, but it aint the Camillus we all knew.

When I heard camillus had been started up again, I sent an email to the new owners. They said the knives would be made overseas. dissappointing.

Be careful with the newest Heat models. The old ones were made in Twain and fairly good knives. The new ones are made in China, shipped to Spain and sold as "products of Spain". They are not awful, but not as good as the old ones.....
