I've always found pilot and military watches very attractive. I don't know why, I just do. Maybe it's the simple, uncluttered design. Maybe it's the rugged construction. Whatever it is the pilot/military aesthetic makes for a handsome piece when presented in a mechanical medium.

Here are a couple of mine. Neither one is particularly remarkable, but the automatic movement that powers these watches make them very cool.

Well I have posted this before, but I really like the watch and wear it every day. Fairly inexpensive, easy to read, and keeps decent time. Seiko 5 automatic.

I had a gray market Seiko Chrono Aviator. It was a nice watch, but way more complicated than I need.

This is my everyday carry watch. It's a ref: 16713, two tone Rolex GMT II. It has an additional hour hand that completes one revolution in 24 hours. That hand indicates the time on the outer, 24 hour, movable bezel. Most travelers set that hand to their home time, then they can quick set the normal hour hand to whatever local time zone they're in by unscrewing the crown, pulling it to the first detent and adjust the hour hand by one hour increments. Pilots usually set the 24 hour hand to Greenwich Mean Time for their log/reference. I mostly use the outer, rotating bezel to time steaks with the minute hand, on the grille.

I'm both, but I've got a lot more knives than watches.

Strangely enough I find that most watch collectors want to wear the watches that they own. If they have a watch that they don't wear they are quick to sell it and buy another one. Knife collectors on the other hand will buy a lot of knives that they never intend to use.

I got that watch for Christmas one year, and I was thrilled. Loved it.

But, I soon came to realize I couldn't reliably read the time (and none of the gadgets) without my glasses.

I had to take it back. Loved the styling, though.
