If you do any extended chopping you know what I am talking about.
I agree Micarta/ G10 is really rough for chopping but Ive found that cord wrapping and hockey taping my choppers makes them much easier on the hands. Especially if you wear gloves. What I like about the Micarta/ G10 over kraton is that it never wears out. Kraton will be gone with a few months of hard use. This is why Res C is the best handle material for a chopper. It absorbs shock better than kraton and is extremely durable. Also it is much grippier when wet.

I would like to get another cold steel kukri because its a great blade for 150 bucks but Im scared the tang will break. This is one of the main reasons I have a KZ II instead. Its really expensive but chops much better and wont ever break. Those stick tangs do not look safe at all.

I agree that RES-C is the best handle material for this knife, do you think that there is a way that the Mudder pattern could be made to work? However on the blade I still totally think that 1/4" differentially tempered SR-101 would be more that enough.

Did some very extensive chopping and splitting tonight with the KZ II. My whole arm is sore. Bring on the Ratkuk in Res C!

What I hate is the electric shock that sometimes kills my arm !

Ok two days of beating the tar out of my KZ II. I feel like I just hit a heavy bag with no gloves for an hour straight. I probably split 30-40 logs and chopped down several pretty good sized trees. The Zilla can take on heck of a beating though. No edge damage at all and Im positive I hit some rusted nails and gravel.

But yeah, my arm hurts. But its a good burn.

Edit: And I forgot to say, I used an axe for some of the really big logs and broke it, I also used my Zilla for some of the really big logs and it laughed then begged for more

I was playing with my Regulator LE today and thinking how great RES-C is... how about a Khukuri with a RES-C handle? I bet I wouldn't be the only guy on BF into one of those.

All I need is the right reason to buy a big chunk of tough edge retaining SR101 and a res-c thin KhukRat would get the job done. Bring the Khurooked Rat!

I am curious how Eric feels about this idea, not a goad, just honestly curious how the idea of a RES-C RatKhuk makes him feel.

So what blade length and thickness do you all want ?
I think 12'' and 0.20'' would be good

Sounds good. I'd like it to remain man-portable

    Monday BUMP!

    I would like a 12" blade and a .22-.25" thickness. Oh, and a RES-C handle!
