I thought it was a #6 with a #8 grind. I do like the old style #8 grind better than the new one.

Thank you but if you in US you can not send it to me - because of Russian customs regulations customs confiscates it. There are certain tricks, if the subject in Europe, but the mail is deleted.

Doc, I don't doubt that in your experience what you wrote above is true; my experience, however, has been vastly different. I've successfully shipped three RMK's into the former USSR in the last two years, including a Model #5-6 'Bradford Angier' configuration to an avid reader working at a nickel mine in remote Siberia. In each case I used USPS Express Mail w/Insurance, and vaguely identified the item as something like 'Camping Equipment, Entrenching Tool'; 'Fabricated Machine Tool'; 'Hand Forged Metallic Cutting Tool', or similar...

I know, this: http://talks.guns.ru/forummessage/5/355577.html ? World is small. This is a big risk, believe me, your correspondent strongly nervous, it's like playing roulette. Despite my vast experience, in the past year I had big problems with customs. Every year thousands of parcels with weapons confiscated. And labels do not help - parcels began to shine through X-ray. Why do I need to look at my ass adventure? Here is shop in Lappeenranta on the border with Russia in three hours by car from St. Petersburg, specially designed for Russian buyers, they regularly sell Randalls: http://www.lamnia.fi/items.php?lang=en&gid=1&sgid=5 and provide transportation to Russia at their own risk. They gave me your book 'Randall Knives - A Reference Book' as a gift when I purchased another Randall ...

Thanks for the links, and again, you have a Wonderful knife collection - considering the difficulties too, well done!

Thanks! If your Model #18 'Attack Survival' knife will be on these guys in Lappeenranta with label - for Andrey Mak, I'll be happy to own it. Do you know what I mean?

makandr, Have you thought about asking the knife shop that you referenced in your post if they would accept parcels for you? You could offer a small fee to them to accept and hold parcels for you. That way you wouldn't have to worry about knives being confiscated. Just a thought. It also might start a small side business for the knife shop to offer this service to other knife collectors in Russia.
