I'm putting this thread together to keep track of available items that may or may not be on the website, and that I haven't put in the knifemaker's area.

So there.

Okay, let's start....small.




Two finger skinner.

I did this for fun, out of a few leftover shop scraps. I have a 4.5 inch cutt off a bar, and some leftover brick red shadetree phenolic burlap. SO I made this, much fatter than my normal necker styles, but comfotable.

OAL: 4 5/8

Blade, 1 7/8, 15N20 steel, full quench and temper. flat ground (yes, I do it once in a while) - gunkote blade coating.

Scales are red burlap "mycarta" from shadetree, with brass pins. I used brass because it can be blacked if desired.

Sheath is an angled carry single belt loop model. It's very difficult to get a really tight fit in this type of handle with the dropped edge. I can do a beeswax dip to stiffen the leather out, but it's fine as is for "regular" carry. In the bush, hiking, or doing jobsite work, I'd suggest ordering a flap sheath.

In my military sheaths, for the cord based belt hanger, I do the holes all the way up the belt hanger. My lack in doing that for the competition knife is easily remedied, if desired.

Other than that, it's ready to go.

And here's a "reprise".

I made this as the one of the first field dirk prototypes. I generally prefer to do a full handle on these, but the exposed butt can be useful. Matter of taste.

Originally this was fully blued but it has a variable bluing due to extensive strop work. Of course, it's stupid sharp.

Overall length is 13 inches with a blade just shy of 7.5 inches. 1.4 inch 5160 steel with a full convex grind.

Handle material is black burlap mycarta from shadetree, with brass pins.

Explorer model sheath.

Here's a couple of my small size PSK knives.

Two setups, here.

#434 is the traditional "220" cord wrapped handle and necker sheath. Easy to carry, easy to use, works fine for a javelin (this is why I started making these- http://koyoteknives.com/psk.html )

OAL 5 1/4 inches with a blade length of 2 1/2 inches. Steel is .118 15N20, full quench and heat treated, with a differential draw on the spine and tang. And, of course, a convex grind.

Finish is left forge black, with just a light touch of steel wool. Handle is wrapped in "220 cord"- a thinner variant of paracord that's still strong enough for lashing, but a lower profile. The handle wrap is not glued down, and can be unwrapped (after removing the topknot)

Next, I decided I wanted one set up as the most minimal belt EDC I could come up with.

Overall, this one comes to 5 1/4 inches with a blade that's a stink (about a sixteenth) over 2 1/2 inches. .118 (close to an eighth) thick 15N20, full quench and temper, then a draw down on the spine and tang. Blacked forge finish, smoothed out with steel wool.

Scanidvex grind.

This one has no wrap- though you could put one on and still train the sheath to fit if it was reasonably thin.

I smoothed the tang edges on this one and had it set up with a Koyote Girl ranger sheath, forming a package that weighs 2 7/8 ounces and is only 3/4 inch thick at the thickest part of the sheath. Sheath is a deep pouch style, set up for the rear lanyard hole is just outside.

I'm not a huge fan of the larger blades like that but it lookse like that knife has an effing beautiful edge put on it

I think it's sort of RARE to see a knife of that size made by anybody with an actual useable edge on it

I've refined and varied the design some over time. Currently finishing up a 10.5 inch bladed one with the thinner overall convex and reverse grind like this one:







It;s not really hard to get a usable edge on the larger ones, it as much a matter of understanding convex as anything else. (or doing a full flat grind)

Oh I totally agree. I mean I've put plenty of mean edges on khuks and stuff.

What I meant is seldom do they COME that way.

In a lot of ways that knife is reminiscent of something from Mineral Mt Hatchet works but your edge is about 3000 times better than anything from Mineral Mt.

I think the first pic with the dark contrasting the edge really is the most badass looking

Another big blade with a really outstanding edge is the Hudson Bay that Bark River made. But to me a big blade like that with anything but a steep grind is rare.

These two are available but not quite deliverable, as they need sheaths and the shortfinger needs a bit more polishing work on the grind and tip.








The shortfinger is handled in figured black walnut, with a faily fat little handle and an overall length of 5 1/2 inches. The blade length is a stink under 2 1/2 inches and it's 15N20 with a fairly high convex grind.

Unless someone picks it up with a specific request, I think it's going to get a ranger sheath with a deep pouch, as that is easy to strong onto a neck cord. The horizontal explorer seath like needham has is also possible....

This one is the Chute, or Aircrew version. It's a bit smaller and more compact overall -

As with the others, it will get the complicated sheath that cups the guards so it can't ram through, has umpteen mounting options, and is reversible.

The pricing model on the Scratchard series is a bit different than normal. It's a fairly work intensive and powerful knife, whether gunkote or blued, and the sheath is about as much work as any 3 other sheaths. It's also got a bit more of a discount for active duty and vets- allies count, for my Canuckian friends

These are generally running $275, with vets going $240, and active at $200, delivered.

This one is coming up soon. linseed oil soaks probably need another 2-3 days and then sheathing.

This is one of my more deliberately rustic looking pieces. Helps when you have 1200 year old scales. It's about 7 or 7.5 inches overall, blade is recycled millsaw, a hair shy of 1/8 inch thick. Forge finish is left heavy and black, with ~1200 year old bog oak scales. Bog oak is ... well, the first step in petrification of wood. Tang and spine are blued to match, and the brass pins have been patinad with bluing to match the overall look. Gonna be a fun one!

(currently at 120 grit on the handle finishing, it will pick up a bit when it gets to 600. haven't done, nor decuided on, filework for the slight thumb ramp)

The beefy leuku be done:

This time, it's not my bushcrafter model, it's a full long leuku.

Overall, she sits at 13 1/8 inches with a blade length of 7 1/4 inches.

Working with a full tang style instead of a through tang, I used a dropped edge blade and very slight thumbramp, giving a blade breadth of 1 5/8 inches. Steel is 1/8 inch thick, differentially tempered 1080 steel. The edge is a traditional convex- easy to maintain on a hard backed strop in a fashion similar to a flat scandi.

Blade is forge finished, polished out with 600 and 800 grit hand rubbing. Spine, filework, and tang are blued to match the overall finish.

Reverse of blade is inscribed. Rough translation from the Norse is "And still, I live!" (Oleg an, lifi eg!)

Handle scales are Masur Birch, generously proportioned (fat, well rounded handle), with stainless pin stock.

Sheath is made by me, for a sole authorship. Expedition model deep pouch with adjustable belt hanger strap. Hanger is also removable for other mounting options.

Asking price for this one is $225, US shipping included.
