Since I was a little boy, I was enamored of birds. They could go everywhere, while I was tethered to the ground.
I think that if I could come back (for just a day or two), I'd like to be a Swallow Tailed Kite. I've only seen four in my life but they could sure fly. They sure can soar and also do some of the most incredible aerobatics....

Awesome sight Robert!!
Great shot,mggn! What a beauty
These are California Condors in the area of Zion N.P. I took these a few years ago and the Condor folks have now discouraged the birds from this area. This particular day, 21 different birds came in for a landing, like they were in a flight pattern, pretty amazing.

RIP, Bob. Knives are a 6 1/2" Fighter and a Boot Knife in polished Sheephorn
I went to the refuge today, still haven't figured out a way to get the peregrine pictures I want, but this Juvenile Forster's Tern did sit down on the side of the road and let me get a few shots from my car.
Here's my latest peregrine attempt, I managed to get rid of some of the purple fringing and a bit of the haze with a UV filter, but I didn't bring the extender for my cheap bazooka lens so I didn't get much. You can see that there's a bird there this time though.

A repeat of history would mostly not be a good thing.
Frank D. Bird doing his hawk impression.
Cool budgie! They're great little critters.
haha - great impression!
The California Condors are awesome - I guess the numbers on them is a necessary evil.
Here is one of our resident red-headed woodpeckers - these are not that common. This is just outside the back of my house on our redbud tree-
Bad picture, but I caught this Barred Owl in the tree behind my house a few weeks ago -

And a couple shots of the hummingbirds that frequent my feeders -

, you have no idea how long I've been looking to see one of those.
Here's one of my ruby throated hummingbirds. It's either a female or a juvenile,

Hi GW -
Your hummingbird shot is awesome - I wish I had a zoom that I could get that clear a shot with!
Is that second shot a kingfisher? I can't make it out on my small screen.

Cool! You have to have a lot of patience then!!
It seems like those hummingbirds know when you set the camera down - they always provide a great shot when I don't have the camera.
I have never seen a kingfisher in person - thanks for the picture.
Meako - wow - that is some cool stuff - the cockatoo's in the wild is very cool - those are fairly popular pets around here. You also got a great shot if that turkey - they must not be too timid around people down there - thanks for the great pictures.
