Picked this up the other day. Really liking this design compared to the other Warthog folder.

    So, how goes it?
You know how it is, rum, sodomy, and the lash.
Yeah, they quit the rum a couple of days before I joined up.

Today's utility knives. My Dozier 4070 (large model) and my daughter's pink Dozier with black 4062 blade...

I had to mod them, of course. First, the large Dozier needed a lanyard hole. So I drilled one. I checked before drilling, and it's just FRN back there.

Then I sanded down the too-large thumb stud on the non-opening side. I'm carrying as a lefty. I can still open it normally with either stud, but now it doesn't snag on my pants. The slant you see is deliberate; do it yourself and you'll see why. You'll also notice a gap on the right side of the blade between the blade and handle. I added a nylon bushing there, as the blade would rock back-and-forth even when tightened all the way. It's fine now.

Note that the thumb studs screw together through a hole in the handle, so if you're going to do this, sand down the longer end.

This image is crappy, but it shows the handle sanded down enough that I can get my thumb between the thumb stud and handle. I do this with every Dozier I get, as the thumb stud sits right on top of the handle and gives no room for grip.

My daughter carries the pink model. I switched out the satin blade, lockbar, pin, and pocket clip and put blackened ones on. She thinks pink-and-black look good, and to tell you the truth, it sort of reminds me of Bret Hart. That's not a bad thing.

Here you can see the difference a light sanding on the handle makes. The pocket clip was literally 1mm from the edge of the handle before. Much better now...

Another "standard" thing I do to these is smooth out the squared handle near the tang. I know it protects from a forward hand movement, but every one I've had, whether the thumb stud or thumb slot model, made my finger rub up against that pointy end. Not so bad now.

I'm really digging the large model.

Buy some of these as holiday presents. But not from (store name removed) since I just bought 11 from them.

Nice mods, JN. And the pink-and-black does look better than the satin.

    Got a new Piggyback...

The sheath has absolutely no retention (it's just a blade cover that slides on and off), but for $8, I can't complain much.

    With a Dozier for comparison...

It took a nice, razor edge. Nice job Steve Johnson and Kabar
