    Buck's crosslock.

I just got this knife in a trade with a good friend of mine, he's had it for years, but never used it.
He got it for a backup pack knife, but he never called on the blades edge, I have used it since I got it, and I really like it. I've seen them before, but I never knew how nice they are. I really like the looks of the blade, and I'll be testing it this winter when deer season rolls around.

So what do you guys think, if you have one or a pic, I'd love to see it... thanks guys.

    Never saw one before.

Is there no year marking on it?

Hey BG, all it has on it Is the Buck USA Stamp.
I guess they never put a date stamp on them, I have the original box and paper work too.

I have a couple. Each knife that I have has two blades... one a main blade as illustrated by your photo as well as a gut hook blade, while the second Buck has the same main blade but the second blade is ground narrower, for seat belts or straps.

They've been hardy workers, never a flaw with either.

On the one I have the liner says Pat Pending. I dont know if that had any thing to do with it. I took it apart and buffed off the bead blasted finish, to a shiney matt finish. I think it looks alot better.

There have been a few threads on these in the last week.

    I carried one decades ago.

Treat it like a slip joint, and your fingers will thank you.

There are some crosslocks that are fairly rare..

This one is with a 560 for size comparison.

I had one for a long time and at first did not care for it. Then I started carrying it to work and really got attatched to it. I Kept it in the Jeep and then the Jeep got stolen one night. Got the Jeep back but my Crosslock disappeared.....punks.

I have a few crosslocks pictured below....I'll also throw in a nice twist! In the second picture you will see the prototype 110 Liner Lock (middle). The liner lock came from a Crosslock. I guess that would make the knife a crossbreed. I'll try to take a better pic later today, the stamp is somewhat visible.

Very difficult to see deep in enough to see the model number (180\) very well, but it can be seen in the second pic. By the way johnnytwoshoes...cool rifle!

    JTS,

I love those photos of yours. The colors are just fantastic, the Weatherby, crosslock & grass.
    "Thank you"

The old school 180 crosslock holds a special spot in my heart, even if it is a plastic Buck.

Thank you guys so much for the pics, I love seeing all the different variations.
Please, if you have more to share do so, I really enjoy seeing these.

JB, thank you very much, I try to take pics that everyone will enjoy, and if just one person likes them, I feel good.
Why does the Crosslock have a special place in your heart?

    Story.....Ok,
My wife and I took a trip out to see our oldest son graduate from the Navy boot camp in Illinois. I had to leave my knife in the car, they would not let me on the plane with it. I had forgotten to check it in the luggage. I felt naked with no knife in my pocket, so we went on a drive and found this huge mall. I was bummed there was a big construction job at the mall as they were adding a Bass Pro Shop, but, I was about 6 months early. They did have a nice sporting goods shop and I found a nice new Buck knife, the 180 crosslock and it was love at first sight....or a first handle, it was very lite for its size and it opened with a flick of the wrist "sweet". That knife was my only EDC for a few years. It's the center knife in all black in the photo, it's skinned its share of deer and a big young Brahma Bull, but, thats another story.

could someone tell me how to take a buck crosslock apart

  20. #20
They're easy to take apart. The Crosslock won the 'Knife of the year' award in 1994. A prestigious award for Buck. That year Buck brought out eight different models of the 180. DM
