Well I have a new favorite thread. What you do is very appreciated, and stay safe down there Ed.
Great thread, thank you for removing these scumbags from the streets!
Any Updates?
The $15 million -- along with a cache of cocaine, weapons and jewelry found inside a vehicle in a wealthy Tijuana neighborhood -- are said to have belonged to the Sinaloa cartel, headed by Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman, the most notorious of all cartel leaders active today. No arrests were made.
The initial report was of suspicious activity in a house in one of the richer parts of Tijuana.
The guys in the picture are some of the same guys in the video i posted. My eyes went out of my head when I saw the money on the table. The intelligence guys tell us that the Chapo is now making head way in Tijuana, a territory traditionally ruled by the Arellano Felix cartel.
That’s the most money I have ever seen in one place.
I admire what you do. I wish, however, that we could not legalize but decriminalize drugs. The war on drugs is a disaster that has cost thousands upon thousands of lives and imprisoned thousands upon thousand more. Prohibition against alcohol did not work. Prohibition against drugs is not working either. Drugs ruin lives; alcohol ruins lives. I see some type of government control of the sale of drugs.....I do not claim to know exactly how it would work but the war on drugs is a complete mess. Billions spent and more drugs than ever entering the US. It is causing law enforcement to become more and more militant.......as in police state militant. Anybody have any answers to this huge problem.
Found two tunes in one month that were use to move a lot of drugs (and how knows what else) in to the US from Tijuana. The latest one is actually very sophisticated, the 600-yard tunnel resulted in seizures of 32 tons of marijuana, one of the largest pot busts in U.S. history. It linked warehouses in San Diego and Tijuana and was equipped with lighting and ventilation. Wooden planks lined the floor about 40 feet underground.
I saw a Geiger counter being scand in the tunnel, at least they know it’s a possibility. How knows how much money and weapons passed in to Mexico trough that tunnel as well.
It is said to be property of the Sinaloa Cartel that has in resent years taken over control over the drug ruining operation in Tijuana after moving in on a decimated Arellano Felix cartel.

26 bodies found in a van in Guadalajara. It is said that most of them belong to the Sinaloa cartel that is trying to move in to the territories controled by the Nueva Generacion Cartel. These types of mass killings are nothing new in Mexico.
Sporadic reports came in throughout the night of random kidnappings and of a large convoy of armed men moving in the city, the fallowing morning this was the result.

So it sounds like you weren't on that operation in the field; but if you see similar sized amounts of money, how hard is it not to slip a couple stacks into your vest? I can't imagine the temptation: it's not tax payer money (though it's bloody money), the money is just going to be seized as evidence... do those thoughts ever cross your mind in field, or is it just pure business?
So, I know you can't reveal tactical things, including what cartels do, but depending on how quickly they dig these tunnels, what do they do with all the dirt? I mean, that's going to be a lot more dirt at a time than Shawshank Redemption- do they fill backs of pickup trucks and scatter as they drive? In England there are still mounds that Vikings left after burying their treasure, so I'm just curious how these massive clandestine tunnels are dug. Do neighbors know and look the other way from the tons of dirt that leave the house?
(these mounds have the treasure underneath them, but point being, it's a lot of work to smooth big excavations out)
Zero
It is always a temptation, but I really love my job. I take a polygraph every 3 months, and once a year by a US agency because of the cross border work I do. The constant investigations they do on us is very intrusive, they even go in to our homes and take pictures of the rooms so that they can see if we are living within our means. They talk to our families at times as well. We are always under the microscope.
That money actually goes in to federal funds for equipment and training for police agencies all over Mexico.
Tijuana is a very big city; a dump truck moving in and out of a large wear house would not raise any red flags. And people are very scared to report this type of stuff. People have been killed in the past for just being suspected of reporting.

EdWood, I'd buy you a drink if I could. Anything for someone who deals with the Cartels and has such honour. Let me know if you're ever in the Palm Springs area.
A look in to Mexican Federal Police force.
Just found this thread and while I don't know you personally I just wanted to echo what others have said. Stay safe... prayers and thoughts are with you for continued safe and successful missions.
Edwood, I'm right down here on the border across from buddy. I feel for ya and you have 100% of my respect and admiration for what you do. The damn videos I've seen coming out of Mexico from the beheading to the torture to the most recent one where they cut off the guys head with a chainsaw while his nephew watched, then they cut off the nephews head with a pocket knife; it literally made me ill. I would say those guys are animals but that would be degrading to animals. Watch your six brother, you're fighting the good fight and you'll be in our prayers...
my only concern is that this thread might contribute to a leak in operational security one day... it seems like you post a lot of things that probably shouldn't be public. i don't doubt you are good at your job, but does your position allow such loose talk about what goes on and when? aren't you worried the wrong people are going to read this, and could possibly use the information for something other than positive?
Everything that I post here is already public information, and as for myself I do a lot of press conferences and speak to the press a lot, it’s part of my job, no need to hide myself.
I know there is lots of interest about what it’s like down here. This is just a small sample of what I see and do. I hope it opens a few people’s minds about to the war that’s going on just across the border.
Ed's a pure pro. I was reading reports about the tunnel he posted pictures of before hours he posted; at that time they said it was the most sophisticated in years, if not ever, before he posted, but they wouldn't elaborate. Within 5 minutes of his post with elaboration, I was seeing stories that were detailing what the reinforcements were like (in a different format, obviously showing different sources).
Edited:
The message is delivered. Stay safe Ed!
