Newt Livesay's Wicked Knives Air Assault

I purchased an Air Assault from Newt Livesay and will go on record by saying, that it is the best 5" Straight Blade knife for the money. The grip, balance and blade geometry work so well together it's scary. I have never held a knife that is as comfortable in all hand positions as this knife is. Last night I took it over to my friends house to help him remove a shed and clear some weeds from his back yard. By gripping the AA a little lower on the handle I was able to chop through some 1" saplings with ease. Also the blade was plenty strong to do some prying and digging. As for the micarta grips, which are not as smooth as other micarta grips I have handled, are fantastic when wet. When done, I hosed off the knife, touched up the edge and put a little oil on the blade and it looked like it was new again. When I got home I inspected the knife and could not find any signs that I had even used it.
The Air Assault it a great knife and I am very glad I bought it.....it will probally be passed down to my kids...it is that durable.

I have one too.....dido on everything you said. It is a great knife! I kinda wish it were a little less hollow ground but it is an awesome knife for the money. The sheaths are pro-made by newt. I don't know how he does it...he is an amazing guy

Last night I was watching TV, and picked up my Air Assault....next thing you know it's 2 hours later and I'm still holding it. It is that comfortable....now if my wife would stop looking at me so weird!

Also....I read you have a CRKT M16.....I have been looking at them....do you reccommend them?

I think the CRK&T M-16 series are a good buy for the money. Are there better knives out there? Yes, but for the money they are hard to beat. I am not crazy about bead blast finishes, but the value is good. There are several threads with more in depth reviews if you will go back and start looking. Boy do I miss the search feature.

The AA is nudging many other knives out of the way as my next purchase. After getting one in your hand, they're REAL hard to put down.

You guys are not helping me one bit! I'm trying to figure out all the reasons why I shouldn't spend my birthday and pocket money savings on an Air Assault! And so far I have found, ... ah, ... let's see, ... uhmmm, ... ZIP! See? You aren't helping me one bit!

If you're looking for another one of the Wicked line that is worth a look- check out the "Executive NRG": +/-4" drop point, Micarta scales & a nice Kydex neck carry Only set you back about $50.00- He also has a belt/pants clip that goes for an additional $5.00 or so- about 5 minutes w/ a drill & boom- the neck sheath is an IWB/SOB sheath. The NRG is lately what my hand reaches for when I leave the house.
