    I'm in.

I also like tip up carry, though it's not a deal breaker for me. My lefty milli is in the mail now, heading back to me from STR with tip-up carry!

Definitely in! Recently got a regular lefty military and i love it. Super steel and maybe a different kind of handle material and i would have a perfect knife!

Hm.... anyone else think an ambidextrous lock Military with a 4-position clip might be a hit? (Sorry, can't help myself lately. I just really want this to happen!)

Like an Endura? Or a Manix 2 XL? For what it's worth, I am primarily a left-handed user but have never bought a LH Military. I find the current Military extremely ambi-friendly due to the Spyderhole opener and the generous cutout for the locking leaf, which I find easy to access with either hand (but YMMV).

I'm a righty, so I really only mention the ambidextrous option as this is a lefty thread. That said, I'm no longer a big fan of liner locks (regardless of maker), so I'd love to see a Military with a different lock and tip-up carry. I figure if there were ever a chance of creating an upgraded Military, it ought to be fully ambi with a 4-position clip so there'd be no need to sell mirrored versions of the same knife. As for the Endura and Manix, neither is really a substitute for a Military (though they're both fine knives; I carried an Endura for years and it's aces).

Hear ya...mentioned backlock and ball lock knives because they're very ambi. Sal has said that when they do a Military 2 it will have the not-yet--produced stop lock. I looked at the patent drawings at one point but don't remember whether it was ambi-friendly or not... I took years to get around to trying linerlocks myself. In a well-made knife (good design, manufacturing and materials), like the Military, personally I now see no reason to have any concerns of any type, and the ergos can be really superb...IMHO/YMMV.

Edit - check the patent application. The stop lock may well turn out to be ambi-friendly - that would be great.

Thanks for the info, JNewell! This new lock has me intrigued. I've wanted a Military for some time, but I'll hold off until this eventual sequel comes along... at least, that's the goal; I tend to cave if I end up having to wait long enough.

I own several liner locks, and they're nice, but I've fallen out of love with them. I have no qualms with the lock strength overall, but I tend to prefer other lock types nowadays. Still, if people keep showing pics of their orange Millies often enough, I might not be able to resist!

I think the only thing I'll say and be willing to get into a real argument over is this...we are lucky to have so many good knives, good locks and good steels to choose from today...and tomorrow.

Just a thought...if this is going to happen, it's probably more likely to happen as a dealer exclusive than a sprint...but the leadtime would probably be reeeally long...

Just an input from a fellow lefty. I actually ordered my Military in the right handed version.

A knife the size of the Military carries better on my belt than in my pocket. The carry position on the belt is the reverse of in the pocket. So my right handed clip works perfectly when I flip the knife over to clip on my belt.

Thank you Sal and Spyderco for making the lefty Military.
It would be cool to see another steel or a sprint or a different color handle, but just having a regular version available is pretty awesome.

I would also like to see a Military that offered tip-up carry, as that is my preference. Although I have to admit that out of all the folders I have handled the Military is the one that works best and makes the most sense tip-down.
