What's your at work knife and your occupation?

I pilot a laptop at my kitchen table, and carry whatever I dang well want. Its usually in the Spyderco, Cold Steel, Benchmade genre, though on Monday afternoon it will be a new Umnumzaan. Its good to be Powernoodle.

I'm jealous of you guys who use a knife like God intended:

Do you just carry those at work? Or what do you use them for?

Mainly it's just carrying..the only use i have for them is to open my snack wrappers when i'm grabbing a bite whilst playing.

I carry an Al Mar Osprey in Abalone on my keychain. It really doesn't get as "beat up" as some of you guys' knives do. I admit that it's not the largest knife in my collection... Oh, yeah, it's toughest duty is opening a bag of M&Ms.

Just out of college, the bum economy rendered my degree virtually useless, so I'm paying the bills working in a paint store. Usually carry a Parmamilitary 2 for taking in trucks and breaking down boxes. Just picked up a sprint run in S35VN Para 2, so I'm curious if I'll see any noticeable difference from th S30V I've been using.

I usually just carry a fixed utility knife. The kind that swaps the heavy duty Stanley blades. I install commercial floor covering so if I actually used my EDC blade, I'd be sharpening the darn thing non stop. Once the tip of the blade breaks, it's shot, for my needs at least. As it is, I burn through a knife handle in about 6 months. I usually carry my regular EDC (whatever I want really) and my Leatherman Juice S2, but if I'm working on a school campus or govt. building (which is often), I usually just have the Leatherman.... Stupid laws here in CA.... Never mind that I have a huge collection of lethal toys in my toolbox, although they are just tools, which is what I consider all of my pocket knives anyway.

I work in municipal water treatment which means a lot of chemicals that are either strong bases or acids. I tend to not use high dollar knives because of it.

I carry a Buck Paklite Skinner fixed blade ($20) and a small yellow Winchester slip joint($10). I oil and polish the yellow Winchester to keep it up to snuff and surprisingly its done very well.

An Emerson Gypsy Jack typically along with a smaller Spyderco of some sort, usually either a lum chinese or a ladybug 3 in zdp-189 which I added a cut-down clip to. I work as a guitar tech so I'm restricted purely by my state's knife laws (in FL it's something like 6" or smaller blade) though the Spydie usually gets the most use so customers don't get all bug-eyed at someone whipping a knife out to open something.

I know how you feel. I have a science degree, couldn't find meaningful work that paid respectfully...so I got into the trades instead! HVAC-R for the win.

I am a crane operator for a heavy construction company. We build and upgrade wastewater and freshwater treatment plants from Ohio to N. Carolina. My EDC knives are a Gerber 06 drop point that I have modified with G10 handles and a megatorque spring, and a little Buck 301. Once in a while I will substitute something else in place of the 06. Usually either a Severtech or lately the ZT 0560.

I am a coal prep plant foreman of 8 years and carry quite a few different knives, two customs, mainly an Alan Folts bird and trout and a Daniel Frazee Koa Wharnie, both fixed blades. I usually carry a mora clipper (carbon) and one of many folders none custom..

I work on the receiving dock of a hotel/casino in town. For the first 15 years I carried a schrade uncle henry 885UH stockman and a schrade 510T. The last 6 years I've been using a buck 301 stockman and a buck 112. Now and again lately I'll just carry a spyderco tenacious to change things up.

I worked as a Ship Fitter in Seattle for a long time, where I carried many many many different knives. I mostly ended up carrying my Cold Steel American Lawman the most, along with a SAK. I recently moved to the least populated county in Washington and now I work as a Contractor doing Sub Grade and Fencing mostly. Building drive ways, doing footing and slab sub grade for buildings and building chain link, cedar and field fence.
On occasion I do still fabricate. I've built several chain link gates and am currently working on rebuilding a 12 yard dump box.

I generally carry my Benchmade Nitrous Stryker in D2 and a Leatherman Wingman.




All though some times I do still carry this set up.

I work on a wood work yard so I always have my cheap m-tech 440 locking blade but then I also have my snap on multi tool.

I'm a butcher, so aside from the obvious knives I carry a SAK "recruit" or "soldier" or the like. I'm thinking of getting a single blade knife that is easier to clean though. I hate to think of the gunk that gets between those blades.
