The knife was built very well, as all the Taiwan-made knives I've seen from Spyderco. Excellent fit and finish, great materials, good edge.
As noted, the clip cannot be reversed, but that didn't bother me. I love the low-ride position, although it did make it a bit more difficult to remove from a pocket. I never used the sheath, as the knife just floated around in there, and I prefer horizontal sheath, if I use one.
I would probably not be interested in picking one of these up for myself, though. It just seemed too small in my hands, when trying to open and hold it. I guess I just like larger knives, or if they are small, I'd rather not have the shape of the handle force my grip into an uncomfortable position. I just couldn't get a comfortable grip. Not really sure why. It seemed like my fingers were bunched too close together...
I love the way the back of the knife is a frame lock, but the scale is mostly covered by the G10. It's becoming a bit more popular on knives these days, and I agree. You have the added benefit of pressure holding the lock in place, but you have the dressed-up feel of a real back-side scale.
Thanks for running this, j.h., and to Spyderco for lending it to the Forum.
Address sent. Waiting patiently by the mailbox.
