Hi tuntratrader -
What's happening with the viKtim? Have you had a chance to beat on it?

Hey Guys,
No knife abuse as of yet. I got a quick picture with it with my trusty old Black Jack and my RMD. I am very impressed with how stout the viktim is. Is it 1/8" steel? It is one of the most natural feeling knives I have ever held. I am super excited to get a new hiker in the future. I will get it out on some wood tomorrow. The sheath is also very well made. I hope he continues to make sheaths. I saw the optional sheath maker threads awhile back.
Thanks for the chance to check it out.
Zach
Hi Zach -
Cool pic! The viKtim is in great company there!
I know it wants to get out in the Alaskan countryside and get beat up lol.
Specs:
9 1/2" overall length
5" blade
1/8" O1 tool steel
Oak handle
Thanks for the update.

Had the ViKtim out attacking wood today. Batons very well, feather stick whittling like a champ and still plenty sharp to prep the St. Patrick's day dinner. I also found a ready made tinder bundle under a tree. I really love this knife. I am getting one with green micarta for myself. I cant decide if I want my new hiker or a ViKtim for my first JK knife.
Thanks again for the chance to play with the knife. I don't know what it would take to break it. I don't have much experience with wood handled knives. I would guess that is about all that could break on this. I have been into Busse knives for awhile so thick has been the name of the game. This knife at 1/8" is plenty thick for anything. The difference is night and day between those.
Zach
Hi Zach -
Kinda brings it into perspective - you have snow up there still while it was 80 here today (unseasonably warm).
I think the viKtim, although only made as a knife for this "beat it up" passaround, is a really great knife for all around use, as your use is proving.
Thanks for the great pictures!

Yeah it is still deep winter here. It has snowed a little every day for months.
I can honestly say of the 100's of knives that have gone through my hands that this is one of the best. The only issue is the pin that is pushed out. Kind of a hot spot but that won't be an issue on my green micarta viKtim!
I can't wait till I get to beat on this viKtim![]()

here are some of my "outdoor" pics:
after limbing and topping the cottonwood, I used my folding saw to shorten the pieces so I could carry then to the camera where the lighting was better.
used a baton to hammer on the butt of the knife until it was more than halfway through the tree, then pulled it out and started hammering 90 degrees out from the first mark - after I had cut 3/4 of the way around the tree, it snapped with a little encouragement.
I also used the VIKtim (have I mentioned that I love that name?) to clear some honey locust suckers that were coming up in the wrong place. (note the "teeth" in the second pic)

Hi Erick - those honey locust trees are mean and nasty! They get the sweetest smelling blooms on them in the late spring though - but otherwise, just a nasty business to deal with! Thanks for the extra pictures.
I am sending Zach the next address so he can get the viKtim on it's way back from it's Alaskan vacation.
Next up, Rockywolf!

It will head south Monday. I am proctoring EMT 1 testing today. Thank you again for getting to abuse the viKtim. I have one on order for April.
Zach
So here is the last photo shoot for the viKtim. I carried it at all times while I had it. Used it for everything I encounter. I was not wishing, but sorta hopeful for a fire or wreck. I know that is terrible but you know what I mean. No fire dept abuse to report.
Thank you again for the chance to mess with this awesome knife. Truly one of the best. Very excited to get into John's knives. Really rethinking several of my blades after using this.
Zach
nice pics -- kiddo does not look thrilled, though.![]()
