    BK2 vs BK10?

I know size wise these two knives are pretty similar. But function wise are they a lot different or more alike? I love the looks of the BK10, i was just curious about its capabilities.

Seem pretty similar in function. BK10 is a good bit lighter. I'm probably going to retire my BK2 in favor of the 10.

I love my BK10, which is why I've yet to purchase a BK2. Some day, maybe, but there are more useful purchases before then. The 10 has a thumb ramp and swedge, both of which the 2 lacks. I guess it really depends on which style you find more useful.

Not sure if any of the BK10s are left at the factory. I snagged a NIB one of the forum at a great deal. The original buy in for the B-heads was 99.95. Then they went to the factory direct price of 150.00 for anyone to purchase which considering the grips and bells n whistles (hee hee) it was a steal. Then they didnt sell fast which does not make sense but neither does the economy.
So if you can find an original Camillus or one of the later Kabars you will be paying a bit of a premium. I love mine.

The 10 has more finesse, I love both but would pick the 10 if forced.

I was expecting to see a knife fight in here.

NO PICS!!! HERESY!!! OK, grab your pitchforks, light the torches, we're storming the castle.

Seriously, night and day difference in how they perform and what they were designed to perform for.

I love both of mine. Alot.

for batoning, i like the 2 better. if i was going to use it to bridge a perilous chasm and have to stand on it, the 2. it's significantly beefier overall. for everything else, i like the 10 a touch more. little thinner, little slicier, little lighter in hand. but still plenty tough.

    one's beefier, one's slicier.

if i wasn't at work, i'd snap a shot of the spines to show the difference. i'll do it later if noone has by then.

I will definitely keep that advice in mind if I ever have to bridge a perilous chasm

10 all the way. I own 3 and love them all just the same. The 2 has a huge fan base, but I don't own one anymore. My 2 is now a BK1&1/2.

    I like the BK2.
I bought the BK10 and it wasn't for me.
You can almost buy 3 BK2's for the price of a 10.

the military likes thumb ramps. some silly safety thing? so the "military series" has thumb ramps. several models/variants. lalala. 7, 9, 10...

the 10 is a TAD lighter, and slicier than the 2... unless you modify the edges, then all bets are out. traditional pocket sheath.

the 2 is even thicker as i recall than the camillus model 2 (back to original Blackjack thickness), no thumb ramp... injection molded sheath.

different sheaths too, that might make a big difference to some.

otherwise, they are knives with the same handles, and well, do knife things :>

the 2 is very much currently in production, less expensive and dead easy to find, from new to many eras and variants.

the 10 is out of production; the 10 LE comes new with bells and whistles, and will be soon be out of stock, forever.... call KaBar only or find one used/like-new. prices are bound to go up for the collector types.

    neither one will typically disappoint.

if they do, sell it. they move quickly.

Thanks Bladite, that was some good info you dropped there. Had to go with the 10LE first before it vanishes.
