I think limiting it to 22’s is a safety issue which is completely understood. That being said I am really curious about that monstrosity of a pistol / rifle pic. The Glock looking lower is confusing because the ejection port would be inline with the loading of the round. I gotta admit I’m curious. Able to fire it or not; I’m curious. I think if we limit it to 22’s we need to make it interesting. Long range games of War, Rube Goldberg 22 matches, Dum-dum for distance? I’m not sure what a teenage girl feels like when they know they have front row tickets to a Justin Beaver concert but I bet it feels a bit like this. I can’t wait.

Rube Goldberg devices are the things you see that when you hit "the trigger" device, it sets off a chain reaction of events. I’m thinking it would be cool to do something like hit a beer bottle that breaks and lets go of a rope that releases a balloon and then you have to hit that while the other side of the rope is attached to a spring launches a coffee can across the ground that also needs to be hit. I am just saying that we can still make it fun as hell without the big boomers.
(I just typed “roap” every time I tried to spell “rope”; I may have had too many tonight.)

Yeah, I used to build Rube Goldberg devices for fun when I was a teen, I just wasn't sure how u were applying that to a shooting match, but what you said sounds fun. Except then we would have to clean up broken glass, and it would take awhile to build

Make it more interesting then. Use your trap building and bushcraft skills to set off the device. A figure four / pauyute (whatever) deadfall to set off the chain reaction would be even cooler. I second the fact that broken glass would suck. Wait; I suggested it so I don’t think I can second not using it. Balls……need sleep / more beer in reverse order.

For those that are wondering what the "monstrosity" is, it is a Mech Tech Carbine Conversion Unit. I have always wanted a .45 cal carbine but no one made one. I found this at a gun shop when I was visiting my daughter and her family (son in law is serving at Ft Bragg). It just replaces the regular upper with the CCU and then get some 27 round mags ready. I did have a buddy with a very nice CNC milling machine put threads on it so I can mount the can. I am pretty sure that Moose will want it there..... I agree that the excitement is killing me too!

Not be difficult, and I know some sneer at the brand, but HiPoint makes a .45acp carbine. the HP pistols are very hit or miss quality-wise, but the carbines are regarded with favor usually. The only thing I dont like about the HP carbines is the low mag-cap (they are FUGLY but that dont bother me)

Marlin also made a GREAT lil 45 semi-auto carbine, I think called Camp Gun? Camp Carbine? but they are hard to find, I really liked the one I got to handle.

I see that they make one for the 1911 too. I'd love to have them make me one for my Grizzly .45 mag. That would be one hell of a carbine.

I'm going to turn the Gathering into an excuse to buy my Ruger 10/22. It'll still be stock, but it'll be there.

    Rube Goldberg device...

And just because it's so damn cool...

You just pointed out the issues that I had with each. The hi point is quite fugly and I loke the ability to use the 27 round glock mags. The Marlin is expensive and hard to find and also has limited capacity.

I got to shoot one with the 1911 style and really liked it just hated the single stack set up.

I already had the Glock 21 so it wasn't too hard to just plop this on top of it and go shooting.
There is also a glock mag based AR platform by a company called MGI. Theirs is one that you can change the mag well and top end and have what ever caliber you want. The only problem is they will not be producing any more of the .45 glock style this year. They are set for another run late this year or first of next year. (but they would be glad to take my money now and hold one for me when they make them...... Not!
