BM 3550. BTW, you probably should have posted this in General Discussion. This is for Tech Support issues.

I've been researching for months now for a Automatic knife perfect for EDC. I'm looking for a blade with at least 154cm steel but S30v would be perfered. Thats 2-3in and is also lightweight under 3.0oz. I've checked all sorts of knives from Bechmade to Microtech. Any Help would be appreciated! Thank you. Btw my price limit is $200.

I knowIm new to the forums. But I will check that knife out
Not General Knife, Auto Knives.
I moved it.
MT UTX-70. One handed opening and closing. Your fingers never get near the blade and you can do it with your eyes closed. Some people will say that it's not tough enough for edc....and maybe there are people that need to pry car doors open and baton wood throughout the day, but for the majority of the mundane tasks I encounter an OTF is just fine.
Thats the blade Im considering geting the most, havn't had much expercine with OTFs but it's Microtech so I know its well built. The only thing thats stoping me from geting it, is the New Mini HK Entourage 14751. The Auto system is the best I've ever seen but its 3.7oz and only 440c steel So not sure.
I have a Spyderco Citadel that I use for my work knife. I like it a lot!
A good mechanic can fix anything... A great mechanic can fix anything before anyone else realizes he has broken it!
I would go with a Benchmade 2550
I would also check out the Microtech LUDT They run about $175 ish.

Only $125! Defiantly will consider geting that, out of al knives I hear the BM 2500 is the best Auto yet.
Both the Spyderco Citadel and Embassy are excellent and well below the OPs price point.
Another that might be a good choice for EDC is the ProTech/Emerson CQC7 collaboration.
Black anodized aluminum handle with a knurl grip, safety and reversible tip-up/down pocket clip.
154-CM.
Includes a nylon sheath.
~$185.

Here's another vote for the Citadel, perfect EDC for an auto.
The UTX-70 is too small for most people's needs, IMHO and needs to be kept relatively free of dirt, lint, dust, sand etc. The OP should also be aware that Microtech's QC has been slipping and their customer service is generally considered abysmal (the right dealer can help in those areas, however). That said, I did EDC an Ultratech and used it as a primary work knife for over a year and it did just fine.
Other considerations might include Protech TR3, Microtech UDT, Benchmade Mini-Reflex, Presidio, AFO, Stryker, or Rift, Kershaw Rogue, etc.
It's really going to come down to your personal taste.
If you want an OTF, the UT-X85 is much better suited than the tiny UT-X70. Funny that you associate Microtech with "well built" without having owned one.
My personal recommendations, all of which I own, are the Benchmade 2550, Bradley Alias II, Kershaw Breakout, Microtech LUDT, Pro-Tech TR2 and Pro-Tech TR3. Note that the last first 3 have safeties and the last 3 don't. Most owners develop a preference one way or the other.
^ I bought a Microtech LUDT before, great knife but I didn't like the fact it had no spine safety like my HK 14905. So I just sold it to my friend. I have no expercine with OTF's however
Maybe start with an HK Tumult which is generally considered the best value in entry-level OTF knives. If you don't like it, you should be able to get most, if not all of your money back on the secondary market. If you like the spine safety on the 14905, any of the Benchmade autos or the Bradley Alias II will feel natural.
Retracted.
I will consider the Tumult but I just have this feeling that If I buy OTF's they might snap under pressure, ehh I've never owned one so I can't be to quick to judge but I will check it out more. Do you have the knife yourself?
I second the BM 2550. It's probably my favorite auto. Also, check out the Protech TR3. It's a little larger then the 2550, a bit heavier as well.
just remember that with any OTF knife, lockup is gonna suck at best. even on the best otf autos (such as the ones from microtech which I think are some of the best out there) wiggles way way way too much for me to do anything else but to just play with it and watch it go in and out.
I'd suggest you take a look at one first hand and play with one to make sure its what you want.
