I hope this is ok to post here, if not, just let me know Moose and Ill take it down. I was fortunate enough to be given an older blank by Silverthorn in exchange for grinding him a blank.(Thanks Evan!) I have been wanting to do something to a Becker for some time, just never had a chance. Well, nows the time! I am particular with what I like on knives so I wanted to do something that I would like so I can carry it as my go to camp knife. I like spines that are not straight and prefer a little hump on the back of my handles on larger knives. I also like the edge to start at the ricasso and drop just a little bit to the belly to aid in snap cuts.

This is a quick rough profile. I started by normalizing it three times and flattening it out as it had some warp in it. I than ground it down to take away any machine marks and dips in the blade. I wanted to keep the stamp and just barely saved it! Its hard to see in the pic but it has a slight hump in the handle and the edge drops like stated above. I rounded the butt off and took out the little choil on the edge. Also removed the ramp but it still has a little slight dip and the spine angles slightly up to where it drops to the tip. Obviously its a drop point now and the tip is centered in the blade. All in all I really like how it feels. It took some weight away when I took the machine marks out and removed metal at the edge, but its still weighted forward quite a bit. I wanted something that would fill all roles if it were the only knife I had with me. Ill post pics along the way if anyone is interested. Its going to get a full convex grind with wood scales, pins, and tube. Im not sure on the wood yet but Im thinking something classic and hard like crotch Walnut, Lignum Vitae, Ironwood, Osage, or curly white oak.

THAT'S IT, GET BACK IN YOUR CAGE!!!! I'M TAKING YOU BACK TO YOUR FORUM!! BAD CUSTOM KNIFE MAKER!!! BAD!!!!

Hell yeah, I like the looks of it, and the other on you did for Thorn.

Got a question, was it easier or more difficult to grind than the usual one you do?

Thanks Moose. Convex is a little harder because you dont have the pressure like on a flat grind. It just takes longer. Ive learned a couple tricks from other makers that help. Im doing about half and half now between convex and flat with convex edge.

Work on the convex saber grind. Its the best grind I've found to date, that I like more than just a saber grind.

Andy and Dylan do it very well. Call Andy, tell him you want him to teach you, and that I want a free knife.

Looks great! If you do get some tips and tricks from Andy, see if he'll let you take video, puh-lease. I wouldn't mind some tips and tricks to help me with my making also.

    Its my fault, Wheresmyclock,

I got my hands on 4 of them and resisted the urge to be greedy and worked them out to good hands.... except for one... that I kept.

Not yet! Im working on it in between orders. Should have it ground and finish applied this week sometime. Ive decided to go with som coffee bag burlap from FOD and orange liners probably. Should turn out pretty cool. Im gonna give the convex Sabre grind a go but it will probably turn out full convex
