I have the feeling we are gonna start seeing fake snodys come from Asia, I know u said u were doing an Asian sashimi run i would highly suggest making them sign a reverse engineering prohibition waiver of all third parties sustainable in international courts to include legal and magistrate fees that will scare the shit out of them

That's not a patent, that's a copyright. Yes, Mike, as with anyone who designs anything unique, should copyright all his designs (although just posting pictures in a forum like this under his name is usually enough from a legal standpoint).

Mike should also trademark some of the unique names associated with his work. the "$NODY" is something worth trademarking, as would "texas tanto", "realist maker", "ghetto guillotine", "crisis card" stuff like that.

Signing copy waivers are generally useless on stuff like (chefs) knives, unless there is something functionally remarkable about it that no other knife ever produced had before (e.g. the first santoku knife with the divot grinds to reduce sticking to the blade, or a peculiar serration pattern... some examples would be the dual grind of a Bud Nealy Pesh Kabz). Without that something extraordinary, all the copiers need to do is change a few aspects (e.g. blade radius, blade width, blade length, shape of handle) and be legally scott-free.
Hell, everyone and their dog has copied the Emerson/Neeley geometric chisel tanto design... at this point it's better to just know that imitation as the best form of flattery, and keep showing that the original maker is still the best...
