Okay, just to verify, we have FOUR ZT knives in this one, right? 0551, 0561, 0301 and 0350CBZDP?

I wasn't paying attention to when the Kershaws were dropped from the list.

Speaking of that, when will the Kershaw passaround get going? I still really want to try out the Tilt!

I really loved these knives. For me, like others, the 0561 was the top dog in this pile. The 0301 is a spectacular knife, as well, but just too bulky for me. I have a Tyrade that is pretty much the same shape, but less mass in-hand and much easier to carry and hold.

For some reason, I had a hard time fitting my hands on the handles of the 0350, 0301 and to some extent, the 0551. It just felt like I needed to have a little more room at the front of the handles for my index finger. Maybe this is from carrying Spydercos, with that front choil right at the pivot or even a little forward. The 0561 aleviated that just a bit, but even that one was not ideal in handling.

The Kershaw 3600 I picked up a few months ago felt so much better, and I would still pick that over any of the knives in this batch, and actually left the passarounds home the last few days in favor of the Volt.

Quality-wise, these could not be beat, though. Kai is excellent in their QC, and I could find nothing wrong with these, including the "Blemish" 0301 (Really? It seemed perfect to me!) I loved the new subdued joining of the composite blade on the 0350. No fancy jags, teeth or swirlies. It Snapped like a monster, too. I'm a frame-lock kind of guy, though, so no go.

Overall, I liked the knives well enough, but if I were to purchase, based on how things fit me, I'd probably only be willing to pick up the 0551 or an 0550 for comfort, materials, ease of use and price point, though if I didn't have the 3600, the 0560/1 would be a contender.

Thanks to Morrow for running this, and for Thomas @ Kershaw for loaning us the knives.

Next guy in line just moved, and is in the middle of settling in. He requested a skip to the next position, if that's okay. I'll contact the next guy to get his info, and inform him of the change.

Just received the box of ZT goodness a few minutes ago. Nothing better than getting to play with a bunch of sweet new knives on my Saturday off work
I can already tell I'm going to have a hard time sending off the Hinderer designed knives. So sweet!
Well, I'll spend the next couple of days getting better acquainted with the knives and let you all know how I like em

My take on 4 ZT's... FINALLY

The pics show the knives in comparison to my normal EDC's, a Rainbow Leek and my Severtech. In the bottom pic are shown L to R, 0350CBZDP: 0561: 0551: and 0301.

These knives are not apple slicers folks. The marketing is for Military, Public service, hard use, strong premium knives. I will agree.
I feel like most of these would be good for a gloved hand, especially the ZT 0350 CBZDP whose G10 textured handle felt "cheap" bare handed. Purely subjective I'll admit but it's my story.
Like jhyde7585 the 0301 was my favorite. S30V steel and speedsafe it felt great in my hand , texture and fit. Good grip when wet too. The thumbstud did me no good as i could not use it , however the flipper made it completely unnecessary, except as a stop. This is one heavy knife. At 8 oz. it is 2 oz. heavier than my Severtech which I figure is the heaviest knife I ever want to carry with a pocket clip. I think for professionals, the fixed blade ZT0160 might be a wiser choice.
The 0551 was not my cup of tea. Not speedsafe and the frame is so heavy, anyone with small hands might have trouble unlocking it with one hand.
The 0561 was OK , good flipper, KVT bearing, and a deep pocket clip which I liked.
Good knives , just not for a daily gents carry. Thanks Morrow.

The knives arrived today, and since I am off work for the next several weeks, I'll try to put them to work for a few days. It will be hard since I am one-handed for now, but I'll give as fair a comparison as I can.

    Initial thoughts.
0301: don't like. Aesthetically, not pleasing to the eye -- the blade is too fat for the length. I don't like recurves as I don't like sharpening them. Pivot nut is rough, not smooth like the other 3. Handle shape feels nice, though. Not great, but nice. SpeedSafe has no speed.

0350CBZDP: Blade suffers from same problem as bigger brother. Handle fits my hand better. Pivot screw is what 0301 should have.

0551: Great grip for my hand size. Love the blade design. Tough to open -- detent is too stiff or needs flipper. Hard to close one-handed -- frame way too stiff to disengage lock reasonably well.

0561: Great grip. Reminds me somewhat of Contego grip. Great blade. Very stiff detent, but flipper alleviates that issue. Frame lock much easier to disengage than 0551.

From all these opinions, it seems like the 0550 is the best, ergo wise. I honestly didn't expect that. I thought I was alone.

On another note, is the Kershaw passaround leaving once the ZT is over and done with? I'm excited for the talon and random task!!
