    "Thanks" feature

    Hello administrators!

Is there a possibility we could have the "Thanks" function enabled here at BladeForums?

I know that vBulletin offers the feature, and it proves very useful at other fora running vB. It negates the "need" (desire) to say "thank you" to helpful posts with yet another post, and reinforces the efforts expended by posters in contributing.

Thanks (!! LOL) for your consideration.

Like a "LIKE" button? That would be sweet.

No, it wasn't. We had red "chicklets" and green "chicklets". Red for and green for . Abuse? Rampant. Whole threads asking for people to send greens. Other threads attacking unpopular members with reds.

Here's some info on what I'm referring to:

I think the OP means "Thanks" like the feature used at Bushcraftusa.com.

Personally, id rather it wasnt implemented. It adds a lot of clutter to the layout, especially when many thanks are given. The reputation feature is better IMO, but BF is doing just fine without it.

Might be worth the 'clutter' and add value.

themandylion, PLEASE chase a link to a page, to see what you are referring to, and how it looks.

I'm in complete agreement of the removal of the polarizing green/red chiclets. Let our current post be the truest measure of who we are.

The links you provided had 51 pages of supporting text and "thanks for the implementation" and I still didn't know what I was looking for.

These threads show the feature "in action":

There are multiple formats to use - it's up the admin to tweak them to liking. I've seen other presentations, as well, of the "Thanks" feature in vBulletin.

I, too, have never seen a useful purpose for "reputation" - it's always a polarizing popularity contest.

I've never seen a useful purpose for a "thank" feature either. All it does is add unecessary clutter. No thanks.

themandylion: Thanks for that. Now I get it.

Karda: Yes that single post is clutter... but it may be replacing ten posts which may be more 'unecessarily' so.

    I suspect we'll never know.
