Planning a trip to Ireland. I know it's a long shot, but are there any knife shops, or gun shops or outdoor shops that carry decent knife selections? My main interest is Spydercos. Thanks in advance.

I know that the request is a tall order, but the forums have been helpful before. When I visited London I asked the same question and I was pointed in the duirection of an electrical supply store in walking distance from Picadilly Circus. They had a few Spydercos and I returned home with one.

The point is, there must be a source, there is always a source.....

Hey! Well I live in Ireland, and only know of one shop near me in Derry that has a small selection of some good some not so good knives, other than that one shop I dont know of anywhere with good knives... Also you can't carry a knife in Ireland! Yeah, crap for us! :P At least England allow you to carry some small knife.

Thanks for the response. So what good knives do they carry at the store?

I went to England with the wife a year or two back. After an exhaustive search i found an electrical shop near Picadilly Circus that carried Spydercos. I ended buying a Spyderco Urban, a UKPK design with G10 handle, very nice. That same day we went on the London Eye. Security guards gave me a heck of a hard time and I had to hand it in and collect it after the ride. I was also told not to carry it anywhere in london. What helped me was that it was locked away in my backpack in the original box with the receipt that showed that I had purchased it on the same date.

For victorinox and leatherman try petersons dublin. Here is a list from them on other places that sell victorinox or leatherman if you are not in dublin.
    http://www.peterson.ie/brands/where-to-buy.html
    For opinel and buck http://dublin.ratemyarea.com/places/...shooting-23645
They were out of stock last time i visted but should have some in now. Unsure what the exact stock situation will be when you visit.
There is an army shop in dublin with some knives never been so cant say the quality www.armyshop.ie
If you need more places just ask but i will require what county in ireland you will be buying in.
Irish knife law states knives are ilegal to carry without a good reason. Saying its for self defence is ilegal as carrying a weapon for self defence purposes here is ilegal. It must be that its a tool for work hobby etc.
I would recomend you dont break it out if in a city/built up area as they are considered weapons and not tools by the vast idiotic civilians. If in a rural area then you should be ok the farmers wouldnt care about a knife.
I would recommend you get a victorinox and if stopped say "I do not intend to use this as a weapon im on holiday and its a multitool" and add from that.
Any legal , site seeing, knife shop, local advise just ask away.
Sorry but spyderco is a very rare piece here wont be found in most shops.

Revertigo, good to hear from you.

Still stuck on Spyderco mission as that is what I collect. Hoping to at least find Spyderco UKPK which is more user-friendly to your environment as these are non-locking and are not considered self defence knives. Will be travelling through most of Ireland except Northern UK section which includes Belfast, so any county that has Spyderco is where I will go....

Look forward to any further info you can provide.

    Andre
