I believe we are waiting for the poll to close before we go any further. Thanks
I am not taking the financial risk, but it would appear that there are enough knives pre-ordered (aka verbal committment) to place the 200 knife order at GEC. A number of people (including me) have indicated that they will take more than one knife to make the project happen. These generally are not included in the survey tally. For example, I voted for one, but later indicated I would take two if needed. There are a number of folks like me.
I don't care if Sparks collects the money up front. You should be able to ship the knives in the small USPS pre-paid boxes which is how I would figure the shipping cost. I would also not be offended it there is a small profit on the project.
I don't know how many knives in the past were pre-ordered. But the minimum 200 order is just that, the minimum and there could be an order for a larger number placed which would bring down the unit cost a bit.

The point is that there is a sufficient committment for the project to go forward after the poll closes. Knife Crazied, I don't believe you are participating if memory serves me? But if I get two, I would be more than happy to sell you one.![]()
Hold it, Hold it, Hold it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Knife Crazied (Ash) IS PARTICIPATING. She is on the Committee!!!!! She may be short of funds right now but she has put a lot of work and time into this project.

The 2011 Knife from GEC has nickel liners and it's a fine carry.
Still undecided about this, the TB photo shows the blades well into the handle, sleek. The prototype drawing of the GEC shows the blades very wide out of the handle, not at all sleek...But the other aspects do appeal.
As an overseas buyer, will I be able to use Paypal this year? I don't wish to pay with any other method frankly.
Thanks, Will
Sorry Ash if I slighted you. I just remembered your post as you being short of funds. But the way I look at it, it will be months before any knife appears.
I would not be opposed to the committee skimming off a bit of profit to go out for a nice meal with their partner or something if available.

Heck, it's always been my opinion that the committee members should be GIVEN one of the knives by the grateful membership at BF for putting in so much time and effort to serve the community. Though I know that the committee members do all of this out of the kindness of heart, I'd be glad to toss in a couple more bucks to see them given a knife for their hard work... it's the least we can do IMO.![]()

Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go! Let`s go!
Sorry.
I agree with you btw. The comitee should be given something for all their hard work. I`f be willing to pay a couple of bucks more per knife so they can get their knives too. If all chipped in a few dollars then we`d get enough money together.
That was my though as well. Maybe Keven (Spark) would be willing to accept some additional donations from those members who chose to do so, to provide a few extra "gifts of thanks" knives to committee members. That way, it wouldn't be required in the price to all, but those so inclined who might be able to scrape up a few extra bucks could send what they can for the gift knives?
Perhaps a PM to Spark is called for.
ON EDIT; PM sent to ask for Spark's input.

We are up at 190 now. I don`t know about you, but I`m ready to roll! I hope they will be here before my 24th birthday on Aug.31. Unrealistic but one can hope.
Just to let you all know, we did notify Spark and are waiting to hear back.
How long are you going to keep this tally thread open?
I think it may be time to confirm actual numbers folks are committing to, especially folks like me that later indicated they would take a second knife to make the numbers work out. Unless folks don't come through with their money, this is easily a 200 knife order. It probably can be something like 210. Also, if money is expected at the time of the order, it could affect how many extra knives people want.
I am looking forward to my first BF knife! November 9th... just in time for Christmas if it takes that long. What is a practical time frame to expect GEC to build the knives?
With last years knife, how many people were looking for one AFTER they were ordered?
Hold up I'm on committee and I appreciate the offers but I'm not taking anything from anyone as this was fun and I've enjoyed it.Also as Manfred said we have already contacted Spark to see how he would like to proceed we are just awaiting a reply.

Man, those orders are really flying out there! I bet next year we can order over 200 knives!
