Sparks is taking orders as we speak.
This is the link to order. As best I can tell there's about 85 knives ordered to date.

I do hope that all who've been involved from the beginning (who voted in the final tally poll) get in on this.

There is more than 85 sold. I, for one, did not post in the ordering thread. I just ordered it.

Hopefully lots of other people did the same.

I did kind of talk 2 other people into getting one....

Well, I hesitated for a long time...none of what I voted for made it into the final product...but it's still a handsome knife and a piece of history. Ordered one: Trans#7DN410498E9678130.

Anyone have any ballpark estimates as to delivery dates? 3 mos.? Before Christmas etc.?

Thought some of you with committee experience might be able to shoot us a time-frame.

Ah 250! I thought he had ordered only 150 of them. There should be enough for everyone here that wants one, then.

We ordered at the end of August last year, and the knives were delivered to my house the first week of November.

GEC told us that they started cutting the blades approx 6 weeks before the knives were completed. The point where they started cutting the blades was the point where we could not change the order (i.e. order MORE knives).

Now we just need to know when the order was placed, or when they start cutting blades and we might have an idea.
Maybe one of the organizers, or Spark could confirm the order was placed?

I would say that the current project is well on track for a Christmas delivery - now we just sit back and enjoy the wait while the work continues for the committe and the good folks at GEC.

Be sure to watch the "what's happening" page at GECs website - we will eventually see the knives pop up on that page, and when you do, you know they are just weeks away from getting to Spark.

This will be another great one - I am looking foward to it!

I may have missed it, but can't find it: Are we getting a "1 of 250" marked on the knife somewhere?

Daniel, we are not getting it marked 1 of 250, but it does have the cool tangstamp! which reflects the year!
it will also have a custom label just like last 2010 and 2011,( i am working with the Committee and Bill @ GEC as we speak on the label artwork)

Awesome! The packaging from last year's knife still gets taken out and admired often. Great job on that one! Can't wait to see this year's.

Ok, so I ordered and paid for mine so now the patient waitin' begins, so now I guess to keep me busy I'll have to think about what I want for next years knife.

Now, all we have left to do is pick one of Ivan's designs for the packaging, and then wait...

Do we get to vote on that? I know anything he comes up with will be perfect.

Is anyone keeping a count/estimate of how many have been bought and paid for? The "ordering thread" keeps growing... is it going to be a problem if we sell more than the 250 units that (I think) we told GEC we'd take? Is there a limit to how many will be available?

I have no authority or knowledge on the matter, but I would assume that since 250 knives are ordered, 250 is what there will be.

That is quite a few more than had initially committed to it, and they aren't all sold yet.

I might just order another one though....
