Again thanks to everyone for the great comments. Some people have asked about the blade pattern and I wanted to mention that it is 3600 layers from the tip to the guard over 11". The steel is 1080/15n20/ NI. I started with 15 layers of each steel with the 1080 3/16"thick and the 15n20 1/8" thick. The nickel layers are .010" thick and were between each layer of the 1080 and 15n20. It was huge billet for me 8) and probably the largest I have welded. My equipment is not huge and it was a challenge. Took a while with many welds and heats. Thanks to all for looking.

Very nice work Kevin - like Bill, I think that ivory on the fighter is off the hook. You sure it didn't accidentally slip out of Don's hand when he was accidentally clubbed over the head?

I'm digging the pearl folder as well.

Thanks Mr. Wes.... all my damascus blades are going through the parkerizing process for the finish. After many many years of experimenting with the best way to finish out my steel parkerizing is the way to do it. I must give credit to Rodrigo Sfreddo who posted somewhere the how to process. If you want a high definition and deep blacks and silver contrast it's the way to go. Also it's very permanent and very corrosion resistant.

Kevin, I thought that piece of ivory was 'safe' because of the price tag.

    Nice work, bud!

Well, I just got back from the ECCKS a little while ago, where I got to handle that big fighter with the Cool Walrus Ivory

If anything, it is MORE beautiful in person

The feather is absolutely perfect, and matches the slight upsweep of the blade right to the point. The knife is also super light and quick, with great balance.

I am not usually a big "engraving fan" but I have to say that not only was the engraving here exquisitely done, but I think it really added to the overall look....

so much so that the knife now has a new owner !

I think Kevin has really continued to step it up, and along with Dave Lisch and Bruce Bump, I think he makes the nicest feather blades I've seen ....... and that is pretty good company

In addition to the folders, he also had a smaller fighter with an "artifact ivory " handle that was sweet, and a frame handle fighter that was top shelf - I hope he can get some pictures of those up here ( hint, hint )

ps that prairie rattler sheath is also VERY nice

    Bill,

I was hanging out with Kevin at his table, but missed you when you were there.

I agree that Kevin's big fighter was better in person, than in Coop's great photo.

Congratulations on getting a super knife.

    Jim

sorry I missed you ! I hit Kevin's table pretty early

Coop's fotos are always very true - to - life, and there's really only one thing they lack.....

...the ability to pick the knife up and wave it around - haha

Come on Coop, you gotta figure this out...... "3D virtual knife experience"
