Joined last year! I just got a second today and I love it!

Just got my first peanut in the mail today. Case red bone CV. First impressions: the red isn't as dark as I would have liked (I know it's a bit of a crap shoot in that department), though darker than some I've seen. It came hair popping sharp. I dropped it in my pocket and it disappeared, barely know it's there. Plus, I don't think anybody could possibly be afraid of this knife, so it seems like it'll be great for use around non-knife people. "Walk and talk" are great. Fit and finish are top notch, with no gaps or blade wobble. All around it seems like a great little knife.

I don't know that it will replace my GEC 72 Lockback, but it will definitely supplement it. Shouldn't be too hard to cart this one around along with the 72.



It's actually a little bit darker than it looks in this picture, though not a heck of a lot. Now to put this thing to work and start getting those blades a little less shiny.

Mine just came in the mail today as well. Very happy with the peanut so far. It's the chestnut bone in CV. Love it.

It's tasks so far from around noon, after the postman dropped it off; opened a blister pack containing videos of my daughters dance recital, took care of an apple and opened a package of chicken breasts for dinner. I carried a SAK classic for many years, so the peanut actually seems big compared to that!

Not a thing you can't slice

Your always in a pocket
Your weight will easily suffice

Subtle and suave
In suburbia you shall thrive

A handy tool at the ready
Will not scare the sheepish of tribe

Some handles are jigged
Some handles are worn

Of bones and of pearls
This nut has adorn

Some bolsters are bright
Others may not be as fair

Tis not beauty we need
only an edge! To shave the finest of hair

Thin oil on steel
And patina on blade

A knife to be passed on
If proper care so be made

After seeing all this glowing praise and support, I guess I ought to give the peanut another chance. It's been a long time since I gave away the one that bit me, basically unused and never carried.

I just need to find one that doesn't have a bear trap snap on the pen blade.

After reading about the Peanut for so long I logged into E-bay and there was a autumn bone handled Peanut at a super price and made a bid without much hope of winning. Five minutes later and now I should have one headed to my pocket.

Now I get to see what this Peanut madness is all about.

Because Jackknife is a bad influence, I bought a cheap peanut. I figured I’d try the pattern out. It’s a nice little knife. But it never came close to kicking my Jr. Stockman out of my pocket.

In the end I gave it to a great nephew. “Do you carry a pocket knife?”

“No.”

“If I give you one, will you carry it?”

“Yes.”

“Many old slip joint varieties have names. This pattern is called a peanut…”

Yellow Handle CV just came in the mail today.

I never have officially sought admittance into the cult for my son (who will be 20 in September), even though he now carries a yeller CV peanut every day. I posted a picture of it the day it arrived back in March. Here it is way back on page 5.

So here is an updated photo, taken just a few moments ago shortly after he got home from work, of our father and son peanuts. Mine is the chestnut bone and his is the yeller.

From the patina on that yella 'nut, your son is putting it to good use. That alone qualifies him for membership in good standing of the cult.
