So I recently had a fs post on my Umnumzaan and this one guy (Wickedbear) says he will take it if it is factory edge... I emailed him and replied in post that it is but no response.... and then this other guy (hoodninja) said he will seconds it. But after leaving both visitor messages and multiple emails.... Still no response.... Idk if they just don't check their emails or what but I thought i'd give a heads up for other seller on these 2 guys Wickedbear and hoodninja. And the funny thing is right after hoodninja 2nd my Umnumzaan he went to another FS thread and said he will take it. Now I'm not sure if he was just trolling buyers or what because its been almost a week and still no answer or emails from any of the 2. So just thought I'd give you guys a heads up. Just my 2cents

You are out no money and you still have your knife. So 2 people said they will take it, and havent gotten back to you. I really do not think this merits a thread. Things can and do happen, hard to say in this case. It's been a week, be patient and see what happens.

I agree with RevDEvil, no need to put 2 guys on the spot like this when no money was lost and you still have your knife, anything could have happened and maybe its just an honest mistake, either way since no money has exchanged hands IMO nothing wrong has happened there is no rule against changing your mind.

I understand where the OP is coming from, but I also agree with Rev and Allen. It is very frustrating when someone "buys" an item and then does not respond past the "ill take it". As previous posters have stated, nothing wrong has technically occurred here. But I do see where you are coming from, so.... I would recommend putting some terms in your sale threads that mention you must make contact within 24 hrs of posting "ill take it" or the item will go back up for sale. Then you don't have to worry about dealing with people like this and they have no grounds to complain if you have explained it up front. Thanks for the heads up tho, I am sure your intentions were all good

Your experience while disappointing, is not unusual and no harm has been done. It's common for us knifers to see a knife and get excited. Some get so excited they post "i'll take it" but when they calm down they realize they can't pay for it.
Personal accountability should lead the person to contact the seller and appologize for backing out, but not everyone has this level of maturity.
A knife deal is not fully complete until payment is received by the seller and buyer receives the knife to confirm it is as represented.

Formatting a sales thread properly with clearly defined terms is the best way to go. When I see sales threads that are a huge wall o' text I click the Back button on the browser and keep scrolling. Even if it is something I want. People should not have to guess what the terms are, and every seller and buyer has different expectations. Make yours known immediately.

The backer outer should contact the seller,weather its pm email or post. Out of respect ,U need to realize,an I'll take it can shut down yur sales thread, as other lookers/potential buyers get confused & sometimes won't follow through to buy. Courtesy on both ends,its a two way highway fella's

I good idea is to request payment within 24 after buyer says he will take it. If not it goes to the next one.

I'm not sure what you are on about, but yes the thread got my attention because I find it odd. It's been a week, no money or items changed hands, and panic is apparently setting in. If everyone decided to post a thread everytime someone flaked maliciously or otherwise, this subforum would require it's own server. You should also understand the importance that patience, clarity, and compensation for flakers entails. It's a risk at all times when the buyer is not face to face.

I favor posting the names of buyers who back out. If you don't want your name stunk up in GB&U, then don't hose a seller. Its not easy dealing with strangers on the internet, and information is key. Thats the whole point of GB&U. JMO.

Imho, at the very least it deserves mention here. It seems wrong to me that an "I'll take it" should be allowed to be posted willy nilly with absolutely no consequence to the poster. It does harm the seller.

I myself have seen "I'll take it" posted in sale's threads with items I wanted and and moved on to something else. Is it wrong to expect a person to act like an adult and only post "I'll take it" if they are prepared to follow through? I don't think so. And I'll go a step further and say it merits some sort of penalty if someone does. Maybe a chicklet for the violation? Just my .02 cents. YMMV. . .

Just another quick thought: I appreciate knowing who to look out for in the future when conducting my own sales. If you are the sort to back out like that with someone else, I don't want to do business with you because who knows what else you are capable of.

Whether or not the seller posted "payment in 24 hours" he has the right to go back the next day and post "knife is still for sale".
If the one who said "I'll take it" doesn't like that, he can hurry up and contact the seller with his choice of payment and get it done.
Don't really need to wait a week or post in FEEDBACK. Get on it the next day and let people know.

When I post "I'll take it" I have already begun a file on the sale thread AND written up my email to the seller. Post, save, and send.

he's obviously frustrated and then you come in and tell him that his post isn't worth a damn? c'mon man, grow up...

Okay... first of all. I am not trying to put these guys on blast. That was not my intention... my intention was to raise awareness on these buyers... and what I mean by this is buyers that just post and never respond...

@RevDevil I get what you mean... but must I remind not only you.... the Rules that Esav posted. I will Copy and Paste for reference.

Buyers - Be 100% sure that you can financially afford to purchase the item before offering to do so

Ask every question you can before the deal is agreed upon.
Be prompt with your payment.
Provide an accurate address. Make sure the seller has that address. Verify your shipping preferences.
If you choose not to have your package insured to save money, it is your responsibility.

SECTION 4 - Rules for buyers
First, see section 2.2 above.

Do not post in an ad unless you are interested in the item / service that is being offered.

Honestly a response wouldn't hurt at all would it? I mean I would be totally fine with them not wanting it but at least notify me. Just out of mere respect, I understand that stuff happens.. (i.e. bills, tickets, emergencies) totally understandable but for you to tell me that you'll take it and then just leave me hanging..... like really?

I could see only one possible way that it may harm the seller. I know some people ask some sellers to hold items for them while they are waiting for funds from a sale. And when something like this happens of course the seller thinks (notice how I used thinks" not know) cause no funds have been sent or confirmed just a I'll take it. Many times I could see this seller then contacting another seller that he might has funds on the way and then when people don't respond like that.. it raises excitement for both sellers and then it disappoints and frustrates both seller when we get these no responses....

A side note is that the internet is the home of the trolls... I really don't like them and I'm not going to state that they are trolls but its just suspicious to me to post a "i'll take it" and then never respond

This was simply an awareness post not trying to stomp on these guys and honestly wasn't expecting this many responses... if the mods find this thread to be offensive or pointless then feel free to take it down. It's your sales thread (which you paid for the right to have) and you can sell to who ever you want or don't want. If the proposed buyer is slow to pay why would you wait to post "still available". I hate when someone ties up your sale thread with and I'll take and doesn't follow through and it's the weekend when you have the most exposure. I always pay with in 1 hour if using pay pal. If you are a tire kicker then don't post I'll take it. If you change your mind about a purchase, have the balls to contact the seller and he probable say no problem(what else is there to say?). Don't let a flake interfer with your transaction. I 've noticed these flakes to mainly be registered users and not gold or higher members.

I am on the OP's side here.

A person posts an offer for sale, another person clearly accepts it, now they have a contract in writing with witnesses. It the buyer wants to back out then he has to ask the seller to be relieved of his obligations. If he doesn't even contact the seller then he deserves to be on the crap list. And whether he intends to continue with the purchase or back out he should do it within a reasonable time frame. And I realize that things can happen but this is pretty rare and shouldn't be a widely used excuse. I think it is up to the seller as to how much leeway he will grant but IMO after 48 hrs he can sell the item to someone else. Personally I would not even try to purchase if I couldn't follow up within 24 hours.
